Overview

Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Excelsior, Minnesota, Dotcom-Monitor covers SSL expiry alerts, keyword monitoring, and server monitoring. Alerts can go by email, phone call, SMS, SNMP, webhooks, WhatsApp, Slack, PagerDuty, Microsoft Teams, AlertOps, Status.io, or ServiceNow. That range is a practical advantage for teams with established escalation workflows; smaller projects that only need email may not benefit from it as much.

The published general limits include five monitors, a 15-minute check interval, and 25 monitoring locations. Plan comparisons describe different limits, so buyers should compare the specific tier and configuration they need rather than assume those headline figures apply uniformly.

Key features

Monitoring and alert routing

The Free plan allows up to 25 targets and checks as often as every five minutes, but covers only two monitoring locations, email alerts, and seven days of data retention. That makes it a useful no-cost starting point for a small site or project, though its limited geographic coverage and short history constrain regional comparisons and longer investigations.

Subscription raises the plan-comparison ceiling to 100 targets, supports checks as often as every minute, and includes 25 monitoring locations, private agents, and API configuration. Those increases matter to teams that need faster detection or wider coverage. The ceiling is not a universal allowance: pricing varies by platform, target count, and frequency.

Pricing

Dotcom-Monitor uses a freemium model, with a free plan and a 30-day trial. Free costs 0.00 USD per free, billed monthly. It includes up to 25 targets, monitoring every five minutes, two locations, email alerts, and seven-day data retention. The low price comes with clear limits: only two locations, email-only alerts, and a short retention window.

Subscription starts at 13.33 USD per month, billed monthly. It supports up to 100 targets in the plan comparison, monitoring as often as every minute, 25 locations, private agents, and API configuration. Because the price varies with platform, target count, and frequency, the starting price is not a reliable estimate for every configuration.

Enterprise has custom pricing and includes unlimited targets, 30+ monitoring locations, SSO and MFA, and 24/7 priority support. It is the tier to consider when identity controls, larger-scale monitoring, or priority support are requirements; its price is not a fixed monthly amount.

Platforms

Dotcom-Monitor supports web, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. This gives teams several ways to access the service across desktop and mobile environments.

Who it's for

Dotcom-Monitor is a strong fit for teams that need several monitoring types and a choice of alert destinations, especially when incidents must reach tools such as Slack, PagerDuty, Microsoft Teams, or ServiceNow. The Free plan can suit a modest project that can work within two locations and email alerts. Teams needing faster checks, more locations, private agents, or API configuration should compare Subscription against their target count and platform needs. Enterprise is better suited to organizations that need unlimited targets, SSO and MFA, or 24/7 priority support.

Pros and cons

Broad alert routing: Options from phone calls and SMS to webhooks and operations platforms can match different escalation workflows.
Useful free allowance: Up to 25 targets and five-minute checks offer a substantial starting scope, but only across two locations with email alerts and seven-day retention.
Faster, wider subscription checks: The comparison allows up to 100 targets, one-minute checks, and 25 locations, while platform, target count, and frequency affect the price.
Enterprise controls: Unlimited targets, SSO and MFA, and priority support address needs that the lower tiers do not cover.

Verdict
