Overview

PollQR is a QR-code polling and survey service for presenters, event hosts, and businesses that want audience input without asking participants to install an app. Its mix of live polls, Q&A, surveys, and judged competitions makes it more versatile than a single-purpose poll tool, but the right plan depends on response ceilings and event size.

Key features

Live polls support seven question types, including multiple choice, word clouds, and ranking, with results appearing as votes arrive. That suits presentations where the audience’s reaction should be visible during the session, not just collected afterward. Moderation tools and audience Q&A help manage contributions, while browser-based workflows support PowerPoint, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Slides without a presentation add-in.

Business surveys add downloadable response data, email alerts, AI sentiment analysis, and optional review nudges for happy customers. Those capabilities make PollQR relevant beyond events, especially for teams gathering customer feedback. Pro includes CSV exports and webhooks, and responses can be downloaded in CSV or JSON. Its 5,000-response limit per poll, however, is a meaningful ceiling for a large-scale survey.

Competitions support live judging, with a private jury board and up to five scoring criteria on the competition pass. That pass covers one event and up to 10 contestants; larger fields require an individual quote. PollQR says it uses encryption, secure hosting, and access controls, and that customers own their survey data. Customers remain responsible for privacy compliance with respondents.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes one live poll, with no credit card required. It is a way to try a single poll, not a recurring event or survey program.

Pay-As-You-Go costs 2.99 USD per month, with no subscription required. It allows 500 responses per poll and retains data for 90 days. That suits occasional teachers, trainers, speakers, or short events that can work within those limits; the response cap and retention window make it a poor fit for longer-running feedback programs or high-volume polls.

Pro costs $19/month after a 14-day free trial. It includes 20 surveys with unlimited responses, 25 custom QR codes, 100 live polls per month, up to 5,000 responses per poll, and 100 Q&A sessions per month, each with up to 1,000 questions. Businesses and frequent presenters get substantially more room than the per-poll option, though the poll response ceiling still matters for large audiences.

The competition pass costs $249 per competition, or $149 with a Pro plan. It includes one event, one QR code per entry, up to five scoring criteria, and a private live jury board. Its one-event scope and 10-contestant limit make it a specialized purchase rather than a general polling upgrade. Enterprise Starter starts at $299/month for 5–25 locations, making it the tier for multi-location organizations rather than individual presenters.

Platforms

PollQR supports Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. Participants can respond through QR codes without installing an app, while presenters can use browser-based workflows with major presentation and meeting platforms. PollQR says its PowerPoint add-in reads and writes only the open presentation to insert selected content and communicates with the service over HTTPS.

Who it's for

PollQR is strongest for presenters and businesses that need more than a one-off audience poll: live interaction, customer surveys, Q&A, and competition judging all sit within the same product. Occasional speakers or educators may prefer the no-subscription pay-as-you-go option if 500 responses and 90-day retention are enough. Teams that need many polls, survey tools, or repeated Q&A sessions have a clearer case for Pro. It is less compelling when a poll regularly needs more than 5,000 responses or a competition has more than 10 contestants.

Pros and cons

Pros: Participants do not need an app, reducing friction for live audiences.
Pros: Polls, surveys, Q&A, and judged competitions cover several event and feedback needs in one service.
Pros: Pay-As-You-Go has no subscription requirement, which fits occasional short events.
Cons: Pay-As-You-Go caps each poll at 500 responses and retains data for only 90 days.
Cons: Pro limits each poll to 5,000 responses, even though its survey allowance offers unlimited responses.
Cons: Competition passes cover only one event and up to 10 contestants, with larger fields individually quoted.

Alternatives

Poll Everywhere is worth considering for a smaller audience: its free plan allows 40 participants, or 700 for 30 days. Votinova offers a free plan with 50 participants per session, six question types, and one simultaneous session, making it an option for modest sessions. Particify gives its free users rooms for up to 200 participants, unlimited rooms and question series, and one room creator.

VoxVote is another freemium polling alternative. PointSolutions is a paid alternative with an annual participant subscription at 40.99 USD per year. EchoPoll is a paid alternative. Crowdpurr may suit a smaller free event, with up to 20 participants, 15 questions, and three simultaneous experiences on its Basic plan. AhaSlides is a free option for presentations with up to 50 participants, five quiz questions, and three poll questions.

Verdict

Choose PollQR if you want QR-based audience participation alongside business surveys, Q&A, or live judging, and your response volumes fit the plan limits. Its main advantage is the breadth of uses without requiring participants to install an app. Look elsewhere if you need polls beyond 5,000 responses, longer retention on an occasional-use budget, or a competition with more than 10 contestants.
