Overview

Obligant is a cloud-based contract platform for organizations that need to turn contract text into tracked work. It is most compelling for teams with a modest contract portfolio that want shared access rather than per-user pricing. Its review controls and reminders are useful, but contract caps and the need to verify AI output are meaningful constraints.

Key features

Obligant accepts PDF, DOC and DOCX files, including scanned documents through OCR. Its AI identifies parties, obligations and dates, with confidence indicators, and lets users edit and confirm which extracted obligations to track. That human review step is essential: AI analysis can contain errors or omissions, and the service is not legal advice.

The Action Center groups overdue, upcoming and next-due obligations across contracts, with filters for contract, due date and responsible party. This gives teams a way to focus on pending work rather than scan documents one by one. Configurable email reminders allow teams to set recipients and timing; timezone-aware notifications suit organizations working across regions, provided owners and dates are kept accurate.

Contract Q&A answers questions in plain English and includes supporting references. It can help users locate relevant terms, but should complement—not replace—review of the contract itself. Collaboration controls include Admin and Member roles, access by business unit and location, and an audit trail of key user actions.

Obligant says its analysis and Q&A use Anthropic's Claude. Its terms describe logically isolated organization data, role-based access controls and industry-standard security measures; uploaded content is not used to train AI models and is processed to operate, maintain and secure the service, support users and develop features. Its privacy policy commits to protecting personal data under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Pricing

Obligant uses freemium pricing, with monthly plans billed per month and unlimited users on every listed tier. The free plan costs 0.00 GBP per free, is billed Free forever and includes three contracts and all features. It is a useful way for a small portfolio to try the full feature set, but the three-contract ceiling makes it unsuitable for broader rollout.

Starter costs 9.99 GBP per month for 10 contracts, while Growth costs 19.99 GBP per month for 25 contracts. Both retain unlimited users and all features, so the upgrade buys portfolio capacity rather than more seats or a different feature set. Scale costs 29.99 GBP per month for 50 contracts; Business costs 79.99 GBP per month for 150. These tiers suit progressively larger portfolios, though the fixed caps still require teams to estimate contract volume carefully.

Custom pricing is available for more than 150 contracts, with billing through contact sales. The value of the fixed tiers is straightforward for teams that can fit within a cap; organizations likely to exceed it should consider whether a custom arrangement better matches their portfolio.

Platforms

Obligant runs on the web and is deployed in the cloud. Teams seeking a listed mobile app or a self-hosted deployment should look elsewhere.

Who it's for

Obligant fits teams that need to extract contractual obligations, assign responsibility and keep dates visible across a shared portfolio. Unlimited users at each fixed tier can make it a practical fit when many colleagues need access but contract volume remains within the plan limit. It is less suitable for organizations that need legal advice from the software, cannot verify AI-generated results, or require more than 150 contracts without a custom plan.

Pros and cons

Pro: All fixed plans include all features and unlimited users, so higher tiers raise contract capacity without adding per-seat costs.
Pro: Confidence indicators, editable extraction and confirmation before tracking give users a review point for AI-generated obligations.
Pro: Filters, configurable reminders and timezone-aware notifications help teams manage deadlines across contracts and regions.
Con: The free plan stops at three contracts, and each priced tier has a contract cap, limiting its fit for larger or fast-growing portfolios.
Con: AI may produce errors or omissions, so teams must verify outputs and cannot treat Q&A as legal advice.
Con: Web-only access may not suit teams that require a mobile app or self-hosting.

Alternatives

For a portfolio-scoped, paid option across Android, iOS and web, consider Verian Contracts, licensed per project with custom pricing. Qeluntra offers a free web and API plan for one entity and one power user, making it worth comparing when that narrow free allowance is a better match; its paid plans also limit power users by tier.

Legistry AI may suit teams wanting API or self-hosted access, with a free tier capped at three users, five contracts per month and 10 AI calls per month, plus a free trial. PactSeal is another web-based freemium option: its free Explorer tier allows one user, up to 10 contracts and up to 10 extractions.

Legartis is worth comparing for a free plan with one seat and two NDA reviews per month, and support for German, English and French. Obly uses custom pricing based on contract volume and includes unlimited teammate seats. PHIL and Robin AI are also alternatives; Robin AI has a free plan and free trial.

Verdict

Obligant is a strong fit for teams that want shared obligation tracking, reminders and referenced contract Q&A without per-user charges. Its main advantage is the combination of reviewable extraction and unlimited users across every fixed plan; its main drawback is the need to stay within contract caps and independently verify AI results. Choose it when those limits fit your portfolio, and look elsewhere if you need mobile or self-hosted access, legal advice, or a different contract-volume model.
