Overview

Describely brings catalog auditing, data enrichment, content generation and publishing into one product workflow. It creates descriptions, titles, bullet points and tags, and can fill missing product details using manufacturer or supplier information. That combination is useful when catalog cleanup and listing production are connected jobs; it is less compelling for someone seeking a general-purpose writing tool.

Custom rulesets apply tone, style and content guidelines across outputs, while AI image enhancements address product visuals. ShopAssist adds AI chat for customer support and shopping assistance around the clock. These features widen the scope, though the clearest case for Describely remains managing catalog content at scale.

Key features

Bulk generation: Upload a catalog and generate thousands of descriptions at once. This can reduce repetitive listing work for larger stores, but CSV or workbook imports must be under 100 MB and include a Title column.
Data enrichment: Fills missing product details from manufacturer or supplier information, helping teams address incomplete records alongside copy creation.
Brand rules: Reusable rulesets apply tone, style and content guidelines automatically. They can support consistency across a catalog, though they do not remove the need to review product-specific accuracy.
Commerce connections: Integrations cover Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and Akeneo, as well as CSV and Excel files. This gives teams several routes to work with catalog data and sales channels.
More than listing text: AI image enhancements support consistent product visuals, and ShopAssist provides 24/7 AI customer support and shopping assistance.

Describely supports 18 languages and SEO copy tools, but does not offer ad copy or sales email copy. API usage costs $0.20 per 1,000 tokens; typical product generations use 1,000–3,000 tokens, so API buyers should account for usage as catalogs grow.

Pricing

Describely uses a freemium model. The Free version costs 0.00 USD per free for 5 products. The free trial includes unlimited product import, unlimited connectors and integrations, and unlimited users and team invites, but bulk generation and enrichment are each limited to 5 products. That is enough to explore the workflow and connections, not to assess substantial catalog work.

Pay as you go costs 0.75 USD per month, billed per product for up to 500 products. The per-product structure suits a store within that cap that wants to expand beyond the free allowance, but the published price should be read alongside its product limit. High volume is for 500+ SKUs and has custom pricing, making it the relevant route for larger catalogs rather than a predictable fixed-price option.

Security practices include AWS storage, encryption at rest and in transit, no use of customer data to train its AI module, and options to revoke access and request data removal. Describely also offers kickoff calls and support by email at support@describely.ai.

Platforms

Describely is available on web and through an API. Its CSV and Excel connections can support file-based catalog workflows, subject to the import size and Title-column requirements.

Who it's for

Describely is a strong fit for ecommerce teams maintaining many SKUs, especially when they need enrichment, consistent brand rules and connections to more than one commerce platform. Smaller sellers with only a few listings may find the broader catalog workflow unnecessary, while teams with unusual import formats will need to accommodate the file requirements.

Pros and cons

Pro: Bulk generation, enrichment and publishing sit in the same workflow, which is useful for catalog teams doing both data cleanup and listing production.
Pro: Brand rules and integrations across several commerce platforms give teams practical ways to standardize and move catalog content.
Pro: The trial allows unlimited imports, connectors and team invites, so teams can explore collaboration and integration fit before committing.
Con: Trial generation and enrichment stop at five products each, sharply limiting evaluation of the main catalog-scale benefits.
Con: Imports must be under 100 MB and contain a Title column, which can require preparation for catalogs in other formats.
Con: High-volume pricing is custom, and API costs vary with token use, making total spend less straightforward for large or API-led workloads.

Verdict

Choose Describely if your ecommerce team needs catalog enrichment and content generation at scale, with reusable brand rules and commerce connections in the same workflow. Its main advantage is that joined-up catalog approach; look elsewhere if you need to validate bulk performance during a trial, avoid import constraints or know the full cost of high-volume use upfront.
