Overview

SurveyMonkey is a survey and response-analysis platform for people and organizations that need to gather feedback, run questionnaires or reach respondents beyond their own contacts. It is best for users who need branching, branded surveys or shared team administration; its free plan is a sensible starting point for short surveys, but not for substantial response volumes.

Survey creation is paired with analytics, mobile apps and API access, so the product can serve both straightforward feedback collection and more organized survey programs. Its depth is useful, though the free plan’s question and response caps make it a limited way to run longer or sustained surveys.

Key features

Logic branching can adapt questions to earlier answers, while custom branding helps keep a survey aligned with its organization. More than 400 templates are offered on the homepage, with more than 500 expert templates in feature details; that breadth gives users starting points rather than requiring every questionnaire to begin from scratch.

Response analytics support reviewing submissions. SurveyMonkey Audience offers access to a panel reaching more than 335 million people across 130+ countries, a meaningful option for organizations that need respondents outside their existing audience. Surveys can also accept payments through Stripe or PayPal, making the platform suitable for paid survey interactions as well as feedback collection.

Free iOS and Android apps support creating surveys and checking the latest results. Each user can register up to two devices at a time. API access is available for connecting survey workflows to other software. Team plans add shared assets, user roles, permissions and consolidated billing; Enterprise adds Zoom integration, SSO, regional data centers and enhanced governance and security.

Pricing

Basic is free and supports simple surveys, forms and quizzes, with unlimited surveys but just 10 questions per survey and limited responses. It suits brief, occasional collection; the response ceiling is not quantified, so it is a poor fit when a project depends on a predictable free quota.

Advantage Annual costs 39.00 USD per year, billed $468 billed annually, and includes 15,000 responses per year. Premier Annual costs 139.00 USD per year, billed $1,668 billed annually, and raises that allowance to 40,000 responses per year. These individual plans are a better match for recurring work that needs more response capacity than Basic; Premier is the higher-quota choice.

Team Advantage is 30.00 USD per year, starting at 3 users and billed annually; it includes 50,000 responses per year. Team Premier is 92.00 USD per year, also starting at 3 users and billed annually, with 100,000 responses per year. Both include team collaboration features. The published team prices are also described as ₹1,550 per user per month for Team Advantage and ₹3,800 per user per month for Team Premier, each with a three-user minimum and annual billing. Paid plans charge ₹5.00 per response beyond the response limit, so teams should account for overages when estimating costs.

Enterprise requires 5+ users, has custom pricing and a custom response limit. It is aimed at organizations needing additional governance, security, SSO, regional data centers or Zoom integration; Enterprise customers can also access Customer Success. Team Premier includes phone support. Paid plans auto-renew by default, but auto-renew can be turned off; at the end of the billing cycle, the account downgrades to free.

Platforms

SurveyMonkey supports Android, iOS and API access. Its free mobile apps allow survey creation and result checks, while the API offers a route to integrate survey work into other software.

Who it's for

SurveyMonkey fits individuals and organizations that want survey branching, branded questionnaires and response analytics in one platform. Audience is useful when a project needs access to a broad respondent pool; team plans suit groups that need shared assets, permissions and consolidated billing. Users needing only a few short surveys can start free, while those running higher-volume programs should compare response quotas and potential overage costs before choosing a paid plan.

Pros and cons

Pros: Branching, branding and analytics cover the core survey workflow, while templates provide a substantial starting library.
Pros: Audience reaches more than 335 million people across 130+ countries, offering a route beyond an organization’s own contacts.
Pros: Team plans bring shared assets, roles, permissions and consolidated billing; Enterprise adds security and governance capabilities.
Cons: Free surveys stop at 10 questions and have limited responses, restricting longer questionnaires and larger collection efforts.
Cons: Paid plans charge ₹5.00 per response over the limit, adding cost risk when submissions exceed the chosen quota.
Cons: Team plans require at least three users, and Enterprise at least five, which may be unnecessary overhead for individuals or small groups.

Verdict

SurveyMonkey is a strong choice for organizations that need flexible surveys, analytics and a path to larger respondent pools, with team controls and enterprise security available as needs grow. Its main tradeoffs are the free plan’s tight limits and paid response overages; readers with small, predictable needs can begin free, while high-volume teams should weigh quotas and minimum seats against their requirements.
