Overview

Freshsales is a sales CRM for teams that need to organize leads, customer conversations, and deals in one system. It is best suited to small and growing sales teams that want built-in communication channels and AI assistance. Its free entry point and broad sales toolkit are appealing, but the three-user free-plan ceiling and sharp price rise to Pro make growth costs worth considering.

Key features

Lead, contact, and deal management

Freshsales supports lead capture, qualification, routing, tracking, scoring, and capture forms. A 360-degree contact view follows customers through the buying journey, while customizable stages and kanban cards help teams see where deals stand. Revenue forecasting and AI-powered closing recommendations add guidance to pipeline work. This connected approach suits teams that want prospect context and deal progress together; more advanced scoring and territory tools require Pro.

Communication and automation

Built-in email, phone, and chat keep customer interactions alongside CRM records, with integrations for Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp Business. Email sync, templates, customer journeys, tasks, auto-assignment rules, sales sequences, workflows, and internal notifications support follow-up and coordination. Growth includes basic workflows, so teams that need repetitive tasks automated can start there, though more complex process needs may call for a higher tier.

Freddy AI and mobile work

Freddy AI highlights leads and deals, offers insights, and drafts emails. Paid plans include 500 chatbot sessions once per account; each session can last up to 24 hours, with validity aligned to the payment cycle. The iOS and Android apps support offline use, Google Maps synchronization, check-ins, voice notes, and Gmail and Outlook add-ons, making the CRM more practical for field sales than a web-only tool.

Pricing

Freshsales has a free plan for up to 3 users and includes 100 contacts. That is a useful way for a very small team to organize initial CRM work, but its user cap makes it unsuitable as a lasting option for a larger sales group.

Free: 0.00 USD per free, for up to 3 users.
Growth: 9.00 USD per month, billed annually. Aimed at startups and SMBs, it includes kanban view, contact lifecycle stages, chat, email and phone, email templates, custom fields, and basic workflows. It is the sensible paid starting point for teams seeking core pipeline and follow-up tools.
Pro: 39.00 USD per month, billed annually. For growing and mid-sized businesses, it adds contact scoring, deal insights, custom sales activities, territory management, and sales sequences. The jump from Growth is substantial, so it makes sense when those specific controls support a more complex sales operation.
Enterprise: 59.00 USD per month, billed annually. For mid to large-sized businesses, it adds forecasting insights, field-level permissions, custom modules, sandbox, and audit logs. These controls suit organizations with greater governance needs, but smaller teams may not need to pay for them.

A 21-day trial opens the fully loaded CRM. Continuing afterward requires selecting a plan and paying by credit card; accounts are suspended if users do not continue. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are accepted across currencies.

Platforms

Freshsales is available on web, Android, iOS, through an API, and as an extension. Its mobile apps offer offline mode and field-oriented tools, while APIs and more than 100 Freshworks Marketplace integrations provide ways to connect other systems.

Who it's for

Freshsales is a strong fit for sales teams that need lead and deal management alongside email, phone, and chat, especially when mobile access and AI assistance matter. Startups can begin with the free tier or Growth, while mid-sized and larger teams can consider Pro or Enterprise for territory, forecasting, and governance controls. Teams seeking a free CRM for more than three users, or a low-cost path to advanced controls, should compare alternatives.

Pros and cons

Pro: Lead, contact, communication, and pipeline work are brought together, reducing the need to separate routine sales conversations from deal tracking.
Pro: Offline mobile access, maps synchronization, check-ins, and voice notes support salespeople working away from a desk.
Pro: The free plan gives teams of up to three users a no-cost starting point.
Con: The free plan's three-user cap limits its usefulness once a team expands.
Con: Pro costs 39.00 USD per month billed annually, compared with Growth at 9.00 USD per month billed annually, so contact scoring and territory management come at a marked step up.
Con: Trial accounts are suspended if users do not choose a plan and continue after 21 days.

Alternatives

Zoho CRM is worth comparing for teams that want a free plan for three users and a published Standard plan at 23.00 USD per month billed annually. Vtiger CRM may suit a team seeking a forever-free option with room for up to 10 users, 3,000 records, 1,000 emails per month, and 3 GB storage. Bigin by Zoho CRM is a more constrained free choice for a single user, with 500 records and one pipeline. Membrain offers a free tier for up to three full users and five lite users, with limits on open sales projects and processes. Attio is an alternative with a free plan for three seats, 50,000 records, and 50 GB file storage. Capsule CRM has a free plan for two users and 250 contacts. Fireberry is another freemium CRM option. Streak is another freemium option with a free plan that includes 50 mail merge sends per day.

Freshsales also belongs in the wider Sales Force Automation Software, Manufacturing CRM Software, Professional Services CRM Software, Conversion Rate Optimization Software, Insurance CRM Software, and Voicemail Drop Software categories.

Verdict

Choose Freshsales if your sales team wants a unified place for leads, conversations, and deals, with useful mobile tools and AI assistance. Its strongest case is breadth from a free starting point through enterprise controls; its main drawback is that the free tier stops at three users and advanced capabilities cost considerably more. Teams that outgrow the free plan should weigh Growth against the specific Pro or Enterprise controls they need before committing.
