Overview

Connecteam is a workforce management app for deskless teams that combines scheduling and daily operations with communication, HR and training tools. It suits employers who want those functions together rather than a standalone scheduler. Its breadth is useful, but the hub-based plans and internet requirement may make it a poor fit for smaller teams seeking only basic scheduling or staff who need offline access.

Key features

Operations and scheduling

The Operations Hub combines a time clock and job scheduling with forms and quick tasks. Its scheduling tools include auto-scheduling, availability collection, time-off management, open shifts and shift swaps. That range can help managers handle changing coverage and routine coordination in one product; teams needing only a rota tool may find the broader setup unnecessary.

Communications, HR and training

The Communications Hub brings together chat, updates, a directory, surveys, events, a knowledge base and a help desk. The HR & Skills Hub adds time off, courses, quizzes, documents, recognition, rewards, hiring, onboarding and an org chart. These hubs make Connecteam more compelling for employers who want staff information and learning alongside operations, not just shift planning.

Integrations and security

Connecteam lists integrations with ADP Workforce Now, Gusto, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Bamboo HR, Lightspeed Restaurant K series, Square and Wix. It also describes API keys, Zapier API-key authentication, webhooks and OAuth 2.0 for integrations and data transfer. The company says it complies with GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2 and CCPA, and places data centers in Germany (AWS) and the Netherlands (MS Azure).

Connectivity and devices

The app is optimized for smartphones and desktop computers, with support for Android 6.0 or later and iOS 15.5 or later. It requires an internet connection and cannot currently be used offline, a meaningful limitation for staff working where connectivity is unreliable.

Pricing

Businesses with fewer than 10 employees can use the free Small Business Plan. Connecteam also offers a 14-day free trial without a credit card. For teams that have outgrown the free plan, the hub-specific Basic plans start at $29/mo billed yearly for the first 30 users. Additional users cost $0.8/month each for Operations Hub Basic and $0.5/month each for HR & Skills Hub Basic or Communications Hub Basic. These entry plans let a business pay for a particular hub, but do not provide the same all-in-one scope as a team choosing multiple hubs.

Other listed plans include Limited at 0.00 USD per free, with limited feature access; Basic at 35.00 USD per month; Advanced at 59.00 USD per month; and Expert at 119.00 USD per month, each for the first 30 users. Those options may suit buyers comparing broader tiers, but the listed plan names and prices do not establish which features distinguish them. Enterprise has custom pricing and includes single sign-on and increased API rate limits, making it the option to consider when those requirements matter. Check the billing term before choosing: the hub Basic prices are billed yearly, while the other listed monthly prices do not state a term.

Platforms

Connecteam supports Android, iOS and web, and also offers API connections. Mobile support broadens access for deskless staff, but its internet requirement limits its usefulness in offline settings.

Who it's for

Connecteam is best suited to businesses with deskless employees that want scheduling, timekeeping and operational tasks together with staff communications and HR or training tools. It is less suitable for teams with fewer than 10 employees who need only a simple free scheduler, or for workers who must use the app without a reliable connection.

Pros and cons

Broad workforce toolkit: Scheduling, time clock, communications, HR and training tools can be managed in one product.
Useful scheduling coverage: Availability collection, open shifts, shift swaps and auto-scheduling support changing staffing needs.
Free entry point: Businesses with fewer than 10 employees can use the free plan, and the 14-day trial does not require a credit card.
Hub pricing has seat costs: Basic starts at $29/mo billed yearly for 30 users, with per-user charges for additional employees.
No offline use: Staff need an internet connection, which rules it out for teams that depend on offline access.

Alternatives

Consider Sling if a free plan for up to 30 users with shift scheduling, time-off requests, available shifts, news sharing and private messaging is a closer match than Connecteam's wider hub approach. Rosie may suit a smaller operation: its free plan covers up to 15 people at one site and includes rosters, shift templates and auto-fill. Choose Deputy if you prefer a paid service with a free trial and a Lite plan at 5.00 USD per month per user for basic scheduling and timesheets.

Workforce.com is another paid option, with Scheduling and All-in-One plans. Shifton may fit a team of up to 10 looking for a free-forever plan with shift scheduling, a calendar, a time clock and attendance tracking. ShiftCal offers a free plan for five people at one site, alongside a Pro plan at 299.00 EUR per month billed monthly.

When I Work is worth considering for its paid Essentials plan at 2.50 USD per user per month, which includes unlimited users, auto scheduling and multi-week and multi-location scheduling. Planday is another paid alternative, with a Starter plan at 2.99 GBP per user per month and a five-user minimum.

Verdict

Connecteam is a strong choice for deskless employers who want scheduling and daily operations alongside communications, HR and training in one app. Its free plan and $29/mo billed yearly hub entry point keep it accessible for small teams, but larger deployments add per-user costs, and the lack of offline access is a clear reason to look elsewhere.
