Overview

CodeRabbit reviews pull requests with context-aware feedback, custom rules, and one-click fixes. It learns from team usage and can loop with coding agents to address review feedback, which makes it relevant to teams whose code is produced by both people and agents. Teams seeking only occasional review comments may not need that wider workflow.

CodeRabbit Triage scores, ranks, and routes pull requests, helping teams prioritize a busy queue. Change Stack uses semantic diffs, blast-radius context, and architectural diagrams to explain large changes. Security review can cover every pull request on Advanced, while deeper repository scans can run on demand or on a schedule. That range is useful when review, prioritization, and security are connected needs; it may be more scope than a small team wants to pay for.

Key features

Review across the workflow

Reviews are available in pull requests, IDEs, and the command line. CodeRabbit supports GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps repositories. Its VS Code extension also works with Cursor, Windsurf, and other VS Code-based IDEs, and its CLI supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. This gives teams several ways to bring review into existing work, rather than requiring a single interface.

Analysis and integrations

Integrations include Jira, Linear, CircleCI, MCP servers, Slack, Notion, Confluence, Datadog, Sentry, and PagerDuty, alongside the supported code hosts. The integration breadth can connect review with project and incident workflows. CodeRabbit is available as a cloud service or self-hosted deployment, and its supported platforms include API, web, extension, Linux, macOS, and Windows.

CodeRabbit says it does not retain source code after a review unless review caching is enabled; cached data is encrypted and expires automatically. Users can opt out of data storage. Its security and compliance claims include SOC 2 Type II certification and GDPR compliance; listed compliance capabilities also include ISO 27001, HIPAA, SSO SAML, and two-factor authentication. That combination will matter to teams with security requirements, though deployment and review limits still need to fit their policies and workload.

Pricing

The free Open-source plan provides free reviews forever for public repositories. That is a clear fit for open-source projects, but not for private-repository review. Paid plans include a 14-day trial, and the published prices are per developer per month, billed annually.

Plan	Price and terms	Included limits
Essentials	$24 / developer / month, billed annually	5 PR reviews per developer per hour, 5 MCP connections, and 1 repository for multi-repo analysis
Team	$48 / developer / month, billed annually	8 PR reviews per developer per hour, 10 MCP connections, 5 repositories for multi-repo analysis, and 10 custom pre-merge checks
Advanced	$72 / developer / month, billed annually	10 PR reviews per developer per hour, 15 MCP connections, 10 repositories for multi-repo analysis, and security review of every PR
Enterprise	Custom pricing, billed annually	12 PR reviews per developer per hour, 20 MCP connections, and 20 repositories for multi-repo analysis; contact sales for reviews beyond included limits

Essentials is the entry point for teams with moderate review volume and limited multi-repository needs. Team raises the hourly allowance and adds custom pre-merge checks, making it more appropriate when teams need those checks and broader repository analysis. Advanced is the plan for teams that want security review on every PR, not just deeper scans on demand or a schedule. Enterprise adds higher included limits, but its custom price means teams must weigh that capacity with sales.

PR review allowances are per developer per hour and subject to the Fair Usage Policy; plan-specific rates apply. The separate CodeRabbit Agent option is usage-based at $0.40 per agent minute. Trial and free minutes are used before paid usage, and a monthly spending cap is available. CodeRabbit Security Scan has variable, usage-based pricing that depends on the scan.

Platforms

CodeRabbit spans web, API, extension, command line, and self-hosted use, with Windows, macOS, and Linux support across the stated platform and CLI options. This flexibility suits teams that want review in several environments, though the public-only restriction makes the free review plan a poor fit for private code. Free users receive community support through Discord; paid users can email support. Documentation and ticket support are also listed as channels.

Who it's for

CodeRabbit fits small, mid-market, and enterprise teams that want to combine pull-request feedback with triage, larger-diff explanations, or security analysis. Its integrations and self-hosted option broaden its appeal to teams with established development workflows or deployment requirements. Open-source maintainers can start with free public-repository reviews; teams reviewing private repositories should compare paid-plan limits against their per-developer hourly volume and annual commitment.

Pros and cons

Pro: Reviews span pull requests, IDEs, and CLI, so teams can add feedback at different points in their workflow.
Pro: Triage, Change Stack, one-click fixes, and security scanning extend the product beyond review comments.
Pro: Self-hosted deployment and stated compliance capabilities give teams with security requirements more options.
Con: The free review plan is limited to public repositories, excluding private-code teams.
Con: Hourly PR review allowances are capped per developer, and paid plans require annual billing.
Con: Security scanning has separate variable pricing, while the agent option charges by usage, so those costs sit beyond the core plan prices.

Verdict

CodeRabbit is the right choice for teams that want AI review embedded across their workflow and will use its triage, diff explanation, or security capabilities. Its range of integrations and deployment options strengthens that case. Look elsewhere if private-repository review must be free, if hourly caps do not match your workload, or if annual billing is a poor fit.
