Overview

ClickSend supports promotional campaigns, transactional messages such as reminders and delivery updates, and one-time-password verification. Its API can send and manage SMS, check sending costs, and display message history. Delivery status, webhooks, and two-way messaging make it possible to track delivery and handle replies; inbound replies are free.

Recurring workflows can use no-code integrations or full-code builds. That range works for teams with different technical resources, but new customers cannot send SMS containing URLs unless ClickSend support approves them. Businesses whose messages rely on links should treat that restriction as a significant qualification.

Key features

Developer and workflow options: SDKs cover PHP, Node.js, Ruby, Swift, Objective-C, Python, C#, Java, Go, and Perl. Integrations include Zapier, Microsoft Power Automate, Make, GoHighLevel, ActiveCampaign, Salesforce, Bubble.io, and IFTTT. This breadth gives developers and operations teams several ways to connect texting to existing systems.
Security controls: ClickSend says connections use TLS 1.2 with AES ciphers, and sensitive data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Customers can manage API keys in the web portal; staff access uses role-based controls and multi-factor authentication. These safeguards are relevant for businesses handling sensitive messaging workflows.
Support and uptime: The SMS page advertises human-staffed chat support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and a 99.95% uptime SLA guarantee. That support commitment may matter for operational messaging, though it does not remove the need to assess carrier costs or URL approval.

Pricing

ClickSend is paid, offers a 14-day trial, and has no free plan. Its pay-as-you-go tiers charge no subscription, but require top-ups: Boost starts at $20, Growth at $500, Scale at $3,000, and Enterprise at $10,000. Growth advertises 7% savings, Scale 14%, and Enterprise 21%. The higher tiers suit organizations ready to commit more prepaid spend in exchange for the stated savings; Boost is the least demanding entry point, but its $20 minimum still makes it less suitable for occasional, low-volume use.

Additional carrier fees apply, and messages longer than 160 characters are billed as multiple message parts. Those charges can raise the effective cost of longer texts, so teams should account for message length and destination-related carrier fees when estimating spend. Free inbound replies help keep two-way conversations from adding a separate reply charge.

Platforms

ClickSend supports API, iOS, macOS, and web access. Browser messaging provides an option beyond API-based implementation, while the API and SDKs support teams building texting into software and workflows.

Who it's for

ClickSend is a strong fit for businesses sending recurring promotional or transactional messages, verification codes, or operational updates through connected tools. Its delivery tracking, webhooks, free inbound replies, and broad developer language support are useful when messaging is part of a larger workflow. It is less compelling for small senders unwilling to prepay at least $20, or for teams that need to send URLs without seeking approval.

Pros and cons

Pro: Supports sending, delivery status, webhooks, history, and two-way messaging, giving teams practical tools to monitor and manage SMS workflows.
Pro: Free inbound replies and numerous integrations and SDKs support conversational messaging across a range of technical setups.
Pro: The advertised round-the-clock chat support and 99.95% uptime SLA are relevant for business-critical messaging.
Con: Minimum top-ups rise from $20 to $10,000 across the tiers, tying up prepaid budget and making the upper discounts a better fit for substantial spend.
Con: Carrier fees and multipart billing for messages over 160 characters make costs less predictable for long texts or varied destinations.
Con: New customers need support approval to send SMS containing URLs, a material obstacle for link-heavy campaigns and notifications.
