Overview

Cegid Retail is a point-of-sale and unified-commerce platform aimed at specialty retailers managing more than a single store or sales channel. Its breadth is its central advantage: checkout, inventory, store tasks and team communications sit within one retail platform, though buyers must request a demo and custom pricing rather than compare public plan rates.

It combines centralized stock visibility with tools for store teams and customer-facing commerce. The platform is described as secure and compliant, and Cegid reports adoption by more than 1,000 retailers and 85,000 stores globally. Those figures speak to its intended scale, but the product’s fit still depends on the retailer’s operating needs and payment-provider connections.

Key features

Centralized inventory management provides a real-time view of stock across locations, while sales reporting and mobile dashboards let retail teams review performance and KPIs. Offline mode and support for both hardware types can help accommodate varied store setups. For retailers with distributed locations, multi-location support is a practical strength; smaller operations may not need the breadth of a unified platform.

Store Excellence consolidates operational tasks and communications, and an AI-enhanced app brings retail operations and task management together. The specific AI functions are not described, so retailers should clarify what it automates before treating AI as a deciding advantage. Team collaboration brings sales, stock, tasks and communications into a shared operating context.

Gift cards, vouchers, coupons and loyalty programmes can integrate with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Cegid Retail mPOS also integrates with Shopify for online product cataloguing and the sharing of customer, stock and sales information. Cegid Retail Y2 offers a standard API layer for electronic payment connectors, but connector availability depends on the payment provider and the scope of use; retailers should confirm their required payment setup.

Cegid says the Y2 platform has an ISAE 3402–SOC 1 Type 1 report audited by Forvis Mazars, as well as ISO 27001 and MLPS certifications. These credentials may matter to retailers evaluating security and compliance requirements, but buyers should verify which apply to their deployment.

Cegid reports a 30% increase in sales and an 80% reduction in inventory-counting time. Those stated gains are relevant targets for retailers assessing the platform, not guaranteed outcomes for every operation.

Pricing

Cegid Retail is paid software with custom pricing. The Cegid Retail plan has no published price, so prospective customers need to request a demo and pricing details before weighing cost against their store footprint and requirements. There is no free plan; no trial or refund terms are stated. That makes it a less straightforward option for buyers who need to test the product or compare costs before engaging a sales team.

Platforms

Cegid Retail supports Android, iOS, Windows, web, API and self-hosted environments. Mobile dashboards and a mobile app support store teams on the move, while API and self-hosted options are relevant to organizations with integration or deployment requirements. Hardware support covers both types, and offline mode is available.

Who it's for

Cegid Retail is best suited to specialty retailers coordinating inventory, sales and store operations across multiple locations or channels. Its combination of mobile reporting, task workflows, wallet integrations and Shopify connectivity can serve teams that need more than a standalone checkout. A retailer with a simple, single-location setup or a strict need for transparent upfront pricing may be better served by a narrower product.

Pros and cons

Pros: Centralized, real-time inventory and multi-location support help teams coordinate stock across stores.
Pros: Store tasks, communications, sales reporting and mobile dashboards bring operational work and performance monitoring together.
Pros: Wallet integrations and Shopify mPOS connectivity extend the platform across customer-facing channels.
Cons: Custom pricing and a demo-led purchase make it difficult to assess cost without contacting Cegid.
Cons: AI capabilities are not detailed, and payment connector availability depends on the provider and use case.

Alternatives

For a narrower point-of-sale comparison, see Point-of-Sale Software or Retail POS Software. Retailers focused on accounting can compare options in Retail Accounting Software. Talent Management Software and Career Pathing Software cover different employee-management needs, while Job Distribution Software is a separate category.

JobTarget RecruitSites is a paid alternative with Android, iOS and web support; its pricing is also quote-led, with customers paying for services used. idibu is another paid option, with a published 230.00 USD per month plan for five user licences and twelve-month contracts, billed quarterly or monthly. SAP Authenticator is a free Android and iOS app. Recruitics offers a free web analytics dashboard for recruitment campaigns, with services subject to change or discontinuation. eQuest offers a job-posting network membership and an OFCCP compliance plan, both at custom pricing. Hirematic has custom pricing based on platform, advertising, users and selected features, and no free trial. dstribute.io has a Start plan at 359.00 USD per month, including 10 monthly users and up to 250 live jobs per month. Sourcing Square is another web-based paid option.

Verdict

Choose Cegid Retail if your specialty retail operation needs connected POS, real-time stock and shared store workflows across locations and channels. Its strongest case is the breadth of retail operations it brings together; its main drawback is that buyers cannot judge the price or fully assess the AI and payment fit without a sales conversation. If transparent pricing or a simpler checkout tool is the priority, look elsewhere.
