Overview

CargoWise is a logistics operations platform for companies coordinating freight, customs, warehousing and transport across borders. It is best suited to global freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers that need these workflows connected; its breadth is less compelling for a business seeking just one narrow tool.

Its strongest case is bringing multiple supply-chain processes and external connections together, while its transaction-based charges make the cost dependent on the work being processed.

Key features

Forwarding and customs

International Freight Forwarding spans transport modes and borders, covering capacity planning, rate management, vessel bookings and last-mile trucking. Customs tools automate and manage import and export declarations, support clearance, and connect with customs authorities and regulatory systems. Multimodal freight support, load tendering and freight audit extend its reach across shipment operations. This is a strong fit for teams handling cross-border work, though the varied per-transaction charges require attention to shipment mix.

Warehouse, transport and connectivity

Warehouse management covers inbound and outbound inventory; transport planning handles capacity, loads and routes, with alerts and ETA updates. Built-in integrations connect customers, partners, carriers and government systems. AirlineConnect adds direct airline API connections for shipment data, pricing, capacity, flight information, eBookings and status updates. That connectivity can reduce fragmentation for operators working across many parties, while organizations with simpler workflows may not need such broad coverage.

Security and support

Denied Party Screening checks more than 1,300 blacklist databases and records screening actions and results for audit and reporting. Customers can report incidents through a 24/7 eRequest system, with product experts handling responses. CargoWise Learning provides free online education and thousands of on-demand resources. These provisions support compliance and ongoing use, but do not alter the need to assess transaction charges against expected activity.

Pricing

CargoWise has no free plan. Its published transaction charges start at 0.20 USD per package for the eCommerce Value Pack’s high-volume low-value clearances; these are per-use rates, not recurring per-seat subscriptions. The Value Pack says user access and standard CargoWise Cloud hosting are included, with no per-user license or incremental charge for those inclusions. Optional monthly services are separate and include private cloud instance minimum fees, external network connections, customer-specific URLs and read-only access.

Value Pack or service	Charge and basis	What it covers
eCommerce Value Pack	0.20 USD per once; per package	High-volume clearances for low-value packages
Contract Warehouse Manager Value Pack	0.45 USD per once; per eCommerce order line	SKU/product-based warehousing; other listed charges are $0.95 per standard warehouse order line and $4.95 per work order/BOM/kitting request
Land Transport and Stand-Alone Transport Booking Value Pack	1.95 USD per once; per container	Containerized transport; LTL/general freight is $1.45 per consignment
Customs Value Pack	3.28 USD per once; per formal procedure	Stand-alone customs module; import procedures are listed at $9.95. Customs is included free in the Forwarding Value Pack
Forwarding Value Pack	3.95 USD per once; per shipment	International forwarding and customs functions; rates vary by shipment type at $3.95, $2.63, $12.75, $8.35, $19.95 or $13.30
Liner and Agency Value Pack	9.95 USD per once; per booking/bill of lading	Booking, bill of lading, container management, detention, voyage account and sundry charge functions
Container Freight Station Value Pack	9.95 USD per once; per container pack/unpack	Stand-alone CFS; included free in the Forwarding Value Pack
Container Transport Optimizations (CTO) Booking	9.95 USD per once; per CTO-booked container	Applies when a container is booked through the new CTO option

These packs suit operators who can map their shipment and service volumes to the relevant transaction bases. The cheaper rates apply to specific activities and do not imply that other workflows carry the same charge; businesses should account for each applicable line and optional monthly service. There is no per-user licensing charge for the included access, but transaction volume and service mix still drive spend.

Platforms

CargoWise supports Android, iOS, web, Windows, API access and self-hosted deployment. API access and broad platform coverage suit logistics operations connecting multiple systems and users.

Who it's for

CargoWise is aimed at logistics organizations, particularly global freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers. It makes the most sense when a business needs connected forwarding, customs, warehouse and transport operations. A smaller operator or a company with only one of these needs should weigh the breadth and transaction structure against a narrower alternative.

Pros and cons

Pros

Broad operational scope: Forwarding, customs, warehouse and transport functions can be managed within one system, which suits operators coordinating several supply-chain workflows.
Extensive connectivity: Built-in integrations and AirlineConnect cover partner, government and airline connections, including live shipment and booking information.
Compliance and support provisions: Screening across more than 1,300 blacklist databases, audit logs and round-the-clock incident reporting address important operational needs.

Cons

Transaction-led costs: Rates vary by activity, shipment category and unit, making total spend harder to estimate from a single starting price.
Optional monthly services add another cost layer: Private cloud minimum fees and other listed services are separate from Value Pack inclusions.
Scope may exceed a single-function operation: Businesses seeking only transport, customs or warehousing may not benefit from the platform’s wider workflow range.

Verdict

CargoWise is a strong choice for global freight forwarders and 3PLs that want forwarding, customs, warehousing, transport and external connections in one operating system. Its main advantage is that breadth; its main drawback is that transaction-based charges and separate optional services make costs depend on the operation. Choose it when connected workflows justify that structure, and look elsewhere when a focused tool or simpler cost model matters more.
