Overview

Legartis is a legal AI workspace for organizations that want contract review and legal work to follow company standards. It best suits legal, procurement and sales teams that need review, workflows and contract reporting in one product; its free tier is narrowly sized for one seat and two NDA reviews a month.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, Legartis is available on the web, macOS and Windows, with API access. It supports PDF and DOCX files, plus XLSX for creating playbooks.

Teams comparing contract review or analytics tools can browse AI Contract Review Software and Legal Contract Analytics Software.

Key features

Review and playbooks

AI Contract Review checks contracts against company guidelines and works with PDFs in the browser or Word documents through a Word add-in. Clause comparison and redline suggestions support practical review tasks, but the free plan’s two monthly NDA reviews make it a sampler rather than a sustained team workflow.

Free includes an NDA Best Practice Playbook. Team to Enterprise adds custom playbooks created with the Playbook Agent, a more useful fit when reviewers need their own standards reflected in contract work.

Legal workflows and insights

The Legal Agent can research, draft, review, analyse and report, and can run workflows from intake through approvals and signature. Contract Insights adds scheduled or event-triggered reports and Tabular Review for contract data. Together, these capabilities make Legartis more than a document checker, particularly for teams seeking to connect review with downstream processes and reporting.

Integrations and safeguards

The plans page lists API and MCP integrations and DocuSign e-signature. Legartis states that it is GDPR-compliant and ISO 27001-certified, hosts data in Switzerland and Europe, does not share data with third parties, and excludes customer data from model training. Team to Enterprise includes SSO, role management and audit logs, as well as priority support and a dedicated customer success manager. Those controls and service provisions matter more to companies with formal access and support needs than to an individual testing the free tier.

Pricing

Free

0.00 USD per free includes one seat, two NDA reviews per month, the NDA Best Practice Playbook, and German, English and French. The Legal Agent, Review Agent and storage have fair usage limits. It is a sensible way for one person to try limited NDA review, but the seat and review caps quickly rule it out for regular team use.

Team to Enterprise

Custom pricing includes all contract types, all European languages, unlimited Legal Agent use with custom workflows, and a dedicated customer success manager. It also brings custom playbooks, SSO, role management, audit logs and priority support. This is the relevant tier for teams that have outgrown the free caps or need company-specific workflows and controls, though buyers must request pricing rather than compare a published rate.

A 14-day trial is offered. The free tier is not a substitute for the broader Team to Enterprise scope: it limits seats, monthly NDA reviews and usage, and its language coverage is three named languages.

Platforms

Legartis supports web, macOS, Windows and API access. PDF and DOCX are supported for contract work, while XLSX is used for playbook creation.

Who it's for

Legartis is aimed at legal, procurement and sales teams in companies of any size and industry. Its strongest fit is an organization that wants contract checks tied to its own guidelines, repeatable workflows and contract data reporting. A solo user needing only occasional NDA checks can start free; teams needing multiple seats, higher review volume or tailored controls should assess the custom-priced tier.

Pros and cons

Pros

Review connects to company standards: guideline checks, clause comparison and redline suggestions give legal teams more than a basic file-reading workflow.
Workflow and reporting breadth: the Legal Agent can handle work across intake, approvals and signature, while Contract Insights adds scheduled or event-based reporting and tabular contract data review.
Enterprise controls are included in the higher tier: SSO, role management, audit logs and dedicated customer success support suit organizations with access and service requirements.
Clear data protections are stated: Legartis says customer data is excluded from model training and that it does not share data with third parties.

Cons

The free tier is highly constrained: one seat and two NDA reviews per month, alongside fair usage limits, are insufficient for routine team review.
Broader capabilities require custom pricing: teams cannot judge the cost of all contract types, custom workflows and controls from a published rate.
Free language coverage is limited: German, English and French are named for Free, while all European languages are reserved for Team to Enterprise.

Alternatives

Genie AI may suit users who want a free document toolkit with one user and 500+ templates, or a published annual Pro option at 59.00 USD per year. Zuva is worth considering for API-focused evaluation: its free API tier allows 25 files, classifications, language requests and extractions per day, with no credit card required.

Definely is an alternative for teams interested in products that can be trialled or purchased through an account, with enterprise plans and customised pilots. Maigon is another paid option. Robin AI is another paid option with a free plan and free trial.

DocJuris may fit buyers seeking an annual platform fee sized to contract volume, unlimited users and included standard apps, agents and enterprise integrations. eBrevia is an alternative for buyers seeking a custom quote and personalized demo. Superlegal offers annual-billed plans with review credits, making it an option for buyers comparing a credit-based contract review model.

Verdict

Legartis is a strong candidate for company legal, procurement and sales teams that want guideline-based contract review joined to workflows and contract insights. Its main advantage is that breadth; its main drawback is the sharp divide between a one-seat, two-review free plan and custom-priced team capabilities. Choose it when company-specific review and process controls matter, and look elsewhere if you need substantial usage at a transparent published price.
