Overview

The platform combines document management, BIM coordination, and model checking, with cloud collaboration, quantity takeoff, and API access. Its WebViewer handles IFC models in a browser, while BIMcollab Zoom is a downloadable viewer for Windows and Mac OS X. This split gives teams a browser option for model access and a desktop tool for review and checking.

BCF-based issue management works through plug-ins for BIM tools, and teams can export issues as BCF, PDF, CSV, or XLS. The maker lists more than 35 integrations, including Power BI, Solibri, Trimble Connect, AutoCAD, Autodesk Docs, and Revit. BIMcollab was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Key features

Model checking: Zoom supports Smart Views, clash detection, and IDS checks. The free mode includes model viewing, annotations, BCF issue management, and Smart Views for visual validation, making it a useful way to cover core review tasks without immediately committing to a paid plan.
Issue workflows: Plug-ins connect BCF issue work to BIM tools, while four export formats give teams options for sharing or retaining issue records. This is a practical advantage for coordination; teams that do not use BCF-oriented workflows may find less reason to choose the platform.
Security and hosting: BIMcollab states that it is ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS certified, and that cloud data is stored in the Netherlands. Its security page says SOC 2 audit reports for SSAE 16 are not available, which may matter to organizations that require those reports. Customer-server on-premise installation is available only on Enterprise for deployments of 500 or more users.
Support: Email, video call, and live chat are available during regular CET business hours, alongside Help Center articles and tutorials. The stated hours may be less convenient for teams working well outside CET.

Pricing

Subscriptions are priced per user per month. Annual commitment lowers the monthly rate compared with paying month to month, but requires a longer commitment. All plans include unlimited projects and fair-use file conversions; Advanced and Enterprise remove the Basic storage cap and provide two guest accesses rather than one.

Plan	Price	Included limits
Basic (annual commitment)	12.50 EUR per month, billed Annually	10 GB storage per space, 1 guest access, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions
Advanced (annual commitment)	18.75 EUR per month, billed Annually	Unlimited storage, 2 guest accesses, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions
Basic (monthly)	19.00 EUR per month, billed Monthly	10 GB storage per space, 1 guest access, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions
Enterprise (annual commitment)	25.00 EUR per month, billed Annually	Unlimited storage, 2 guest accesses, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions; contact sales
Advanced (monthly)	29.00 EUR per month, billed Monthly	Unlimited storage, 2 guest accesses, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions
Enterprise (monthly)	39.00 EUR per month, billed Monthly	Unlimited storage, 2 guest accesses, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions; contact sales

Basic suits teams that can work within 10 GB per space and need one guest access; unlimited projects do not remove that storage ceiling. Advanced is the clearer fit when storage or guest access is a constraint. Enterprise carries the same listed storage and guest limits as Advanced, with custom pricing available through sales and the stated on-premise option for organizations with at least 500 users. A free plan and free trial are also offered.

Platforms

Access spans web, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, API, and self-hosted deployments. The WebViewer supports IFC, while Zoom is downloadable for Windows and Mac OS X. Mobile access is viewer-focused, so teams needing full desktop-style checking on phones should look elsewhere.

Who it's for

BIMcollab is a good fit for multidisciplinary project teams that coordinate through BIM tools, exchange BCF issues, and need IFC viewing alongside model checking. The free Zoom mode makes core viewing and visual validation accessible; paid tiers suit teams that need more storage or guest access. Basic is less compelling for storage-heavy spaces, and the on-premise Enterprise route is relevant only to very large deployments.

Pros and cons

Pro: BCF issue workflows and multiple export formats help keep coordination connected to BIM tools.
Pro: Free Zoom mode includes viewing, annotations, BCF issue management, and Smart Views, not just model display.
Pro: Advanced and Enterprise offer unlimited storage while retaining unlimited projects.
Con: Basic is capped at 10 GB per space, even though project counts are unlimited.
Con: Mobile access is viewer-focused, limiting its role for teams that need mobile model checking.
Con: On-premise installation requires Enterprise and 500 or more users; teams needing smaller self-hosted deployments cannot use that option.

Alternatives

Dalux is worth considering for teams prioritizing a free punch-list tool: Field Basic includes unlimited tasks for up to three active projects or buildings under its free-use terms.

BIMx Web Viewer is a free browser-viewing option. 3D Repo is a paid alternative with small-team pricing handled through sales. Modelo is another freemium option, with Pro Monthly at 30.00 USD per month and 5 GB storage. Graphisoft BIMx is a free app and browser viewer that requires a Graphisoft account to open projects on iOS, Android, and desktop. Revizto is a paid, per-user alternative with access to all features for growing teams. Sketchfab is a freemium 3D-model platform with a 50 MB maximum file size per model on Basic. OmniView 3D offers a free Starter tier for three models, 100 MB storage, and supported STEP, GLB, OBJ, and FBX files, with auto-deletion after three days and a watermark.

Verdict

Choose BIMcollab if your team needs IFC viewing, BCF-based issue coordination, and model checking linked to its BIM tools, especially if the free Zoom mode covers initial needs. Look elsewhere if Basic’s storage ceiling, viewer-focused mobile access, or Enterprise-only on-premise threshold conflicts with how your organization works.
