Overview

Houzz brings homeowners and home professionals together around renovation and design, with a local directory alongside its professional software. It suits remodeling and design businesses that want client-facing discovery and project administration in one place. The trade-off is a substantial monthly price for Pro, plus fees when customers pay online.

Key features

Houzz Pro’s project tools include estimates, invoicing, a 3D Floor Planner, online payments, assemblies and CRM. Digital contracts add templates, electronic signatures, reminders and activity tracking, helping professionals keep agreements connected to their work. The Web Product Clipper saves items from supplier websites to the Houzz Pro product library through a browser extension, a useful sourcing aid for projects that involve comparing products.

The mobile app supports project and lead management, estimates, proposals, invoices, schedules, tasks, time and expenses, time clocks and daily logs. Access to project data offline can help keep work moving when connectivity is disrupted. Houzz allows unlimited storage for data and features, including photos, videos and documents.

Integrations include QuickBooks Online, Google, Office 365, Outlook, Google Drive, Gmail, Gusto, Zoom and other services. Zapier imports leads and projects into Houzz Pro, but does not export data from it, a meaningful limitation for businesses relying on two-way automation. Houzz transmits data over HTTPS, uses AWS storage and encrypted backups, and meets PCI-DSS standards for card payments. Users can request a CSV export of their Pro data through privacy settings. Support includes live chat, email, phone, a Help Center, video tutorials, training resources and a professional forum.

Pricing

The Free Plan is free and includes a 3D Floor Planner, estimates and invoicing. It is a sensible starting point for professionals who need those core tools, but it omits the Pro plan’s online payments, assemblies and CRM.

Pro costs 249.00 USD per month after a 30-day free trial, which is billed at $0/mo for the trial. It adds online payments, assemblies, CRM and phone and live chat support to the Free Plan features. Online payment fees are 3.5% for credit cards and 1% for ACH, so businesses should account for transaction costs as well as the subscription.

The Advertising Package starts at $499/mo and includes preferred directory placement, lead generation and targeted advertising. It is aimed at businesses prioritizing visibility and lead acquisition rather than a broader project workflow. Custom pricing is offered for takeoffs, project schedules, selections boards, daily logs, budgets, bid management, change orders, financial reports, marketing solutions, dedicated account support and unlimited users. Businesses needing those capabilities should compare the custom package directly with Pro rather than assume they are included at the Pro price.

Platforms

Houzz supports Android, iOS, web and a browser extension. The extension serves product sourcing, while the mobile app extends project and lead tasks to phones and provides offline access to project data.

Who it's for

Houzz is a strong fit for local remodeling and design professionals who want project tools, product sourcing and a homeowner-facing directory. Profiles can include reviews, and verified profiles are available; both homeowners and professionals can submit listings. The Free Plan suits those who can work within its core tools, while Pro is for businesses ready to pay for a fuller project workflow. Businesses that need custom-plan capabilities such as bid management or unlimited users should consider the custom option. Houzz is less compelling for teams that require Zapier to send data out of the platform or want to avoid transaction fees on online payments.

Pros and cons

Pro covers several project stages: estimates, invoicing, CRM, contracts and a floor planner sit alongside mobile schedules, tasks and time tracking.
Useful job-site flexibility: offline project-data access and unlimited storage support field work without a stated storage ceiling.
Free entry point: the Free Plan includes estimates, invoicing and a 3D Floor Planner.
Pro is a significant commitment: at 249.00 USD per month after the trial, it may be more than a small operation needs for those core tools.
Payment costs add up: online transactions incur 3.5% for credit cards or 1% for ACH.
Zapier is one-way: it brings leads and projects in, but cannot export data from Houzz Pro.

Alternatives

Construction Project Management Software is a useful category to compare if project-management options beyond Houzz are the priority. For a more focused contractor comparison, see Remodeling Contractor Software; for directory-first options, browse Business Directories.

Buildxact is worth considering for its free plan with five complimentary credits, AI estimating, professional proposals and Home Depot material ordering. Fieldwire may suit teams that want a free tier capped at five users, three projects and 100 sheets, or a Pro plan with unlimited projects and sheets at 39.00 USD per month billed annually.

Trimble Viewpoint Vista, BuildBook, Causeway Construction Software, Oracle Primavera Cloud, Projectmates and CMiC are other options to compare.

Verdict

Choose Houzz if you run a remodeling or design business and want homeowner discovery combined with estimates, invoicing, CRM and field-oriented mobile tools. Its free tier makes it possible to start with core project functions, while Pro expands the workflow considerably. Look elsewhere if the 249.00 USD monthly Pro price and payment fees do not fit your business, or if your integrations need data to flow out through Zapier.
