Overview

StudyGlen accepts PDFs, text, images, handwritten notes, YouTube links and Anki decks, then converts them into study activities. Quiz inputs include PDFs up to 20MB, text up to 20,000 characters, images processed with OCR, and YouTube URLs using captions. That flexibility helps when course material comes in several forms, while the daily free allowance makes sustained use difficult without buying credits.

Quiz generation supports 41 content languages with localized AI explanations, and the interface supports 13 languages. A no-account trial gives five free quiz questions without a credit card, so prospective users can sample quiz generation before committing. The company says uploads are deleted from active systems after processing, although backups may remain for up to 30 days.

Key features

Quizzes, flashcards and Anki

Flashcards include basic and cloze deletion formats, FSRS spaced repetition, and smart, sequential and shuffle study modes. Anki imports support .apkg, .colpkg, .txt, .csv and .tsv files while preserving SM-2 scheduling. That preservation is a meaningful advantage for learners moving an established deck, though free users are limited to five imports a day.

Comics, competitions and exports

The comic tool builds scripts, characters, dialogue and scenes in cartoon, anime, watercolor, realistic or sketch styles. Its single lifetime comic on the free tier is enough to sample the format, not to make comics a recurring study method. Live quiz competitions allow unlimited hosting with real-time leaderboards and no study credits, making them the least constrained option for teachers or groups.

Quizzes export without charge or quantity limits to PDF, Word, CSV, Anki (.apkg) and QTI, with direct import into Canvas and Moodle. This is useful for learners who want to keep materials in another system, and for educators who need LMS-compatible quizzes. On iOS and Android, quizzes and flashcards support offline review and sync ratings once connectivity returns.

Pricing

Free Forever costs 0.00 USD per free and provides one quiz or flashcard per day, one lifetime comic, and two question regenerations per day, with no credit card required. It is a low-risk sampler, but the one-item daily cap is a poor fit for intensive exam preparation. Quiz generation can also be tried without an account for five free questions.

Paid packs are one-time payments, and their credits never expire. One study credit generates one complete quiz or flashcard deck:

Mini Pack: 4.99 USD per once for 10 study credits and five regenerations per day. It suits occasional use but has no comic credits.
Starter Pack: 9.99 USD per once for 30 study credits, one comic credit and five regenerations per day. It adds a comic allowance without a recurring bill.
Plus Pack: 24.99 USD per once for 100 study credits, three comic credits and five regenerations per day. It gives frequent users more room before another purchase.
Pro Pack: 49.99 USD per once for 300 study credits, five comic credits and five regenerations per day. It is the largest stated allowance, but still uses finite credits rather than an unlimited generation plan.

Every paid pack includes five regenerations per day, compared with two on the free tier. Exports remain free and unlimited, and live hosting requires no credits, so paid credits matter chiefly to users who generate quizzes, decks or comics regularly.

Platforms

StudyGlen is available on web, iOS and Android. The mobile apps support quiz and flashcard review offline, with ratings syncing when the device reconnects. This suits learners who study away from a dependable connection, though the mobile details provided cover review rather than the full range of creation tools.

Who it's for

Students preparing for exams, including medical and nursing students, can turn varied source material into practice questions and review cards. Language learners may benefit from the 41 supported content languages and localized explanations. Teachers can use live competitions and LMS exports, while parents are among the audiences StudyGlen identifies. Anki users are a particularly clear fit if preserving SM-2 scheduling during import matters.

Pros and cons

Pro: Broad inputs and outputs let users move between source documents, study formats and LMS or Anki exports.
Pro: Anki imports preserve SM-2 scheduling, which avoids losing established review timing when bringing decks in.
Pro: Non-expiring one-time credit packs avoid a recurring subscription and suit irregular study workloads.
Con: One free quiz or flashcard per day and one lifetime comic sharply limit ongoing use without a purchase.
Con: Paid generation still draws down a finite credit balance, so frequent users must budget for additional packs.

Alternatives

For a different balance of flashcard and study tools, compare AI Flashcard Generators and Flashcard apps.

RemNote is worth considering if annotated PDFs, image occlusion cards or handwritten documents are central to your workflow; its free plan also includes 250 AI credits per month.
Jambo may suit users who prefer a stated free allowance of 2,000 cards, 15 decks and five AI generations per day.
Brainscape is an option for learners seeking 2,500 pre-loaded flashcards on its Basic plan.
Gizmo is another freemium alternative for web and mobile users.
Knowt may be preferable for users who prioritize unlimited file creation, live collaboration and storage on its Basic plan.
StudySense offers a free allowance of five decks and five AI generations per month, which may fit users who need a smaller, defined monthly quota.
PupilBot is an iOS-only alternative.
Vaia is another freemium option for web, iOS and Android.

Verdict

StudyGlen is a strong fit for students and educators who want quizzes, flashcards, comics and live competitions from varied source material, particularly when Anki scheduling or LMS exports matter. Its one-time packs and unlimited, credit-free exports are practical strengths. Look elsewhere if you need generous free generation or expect to create study sets continuously without tracking a finite credit balance.
