Overview

HYPR Authenticate is a workforce sign-in app that uses smartphone passkeys for passwordless, phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication. It best suits organizations managing shared workstations, remote access, or a mix of operating systems. Its strongest case is replacing passwords across several enterprise access paths; confirm client compatibility and plan coverage before standardizing on it.

Key features

HYPR turns a smartphone into a FIDO2 passkey using public-key cryptography, rather than passwords or shared secrets. Users pair a phone by scanning a QR code, then authenticate with biometrics or a decentralized PIN. This gives organizations a phone-based sign-in flow, though it makes supported client requirements important to check for each deployment.

Coverage extends to desktops, VDI, web apps, single sign-on, VPN, and RDP. A secure offline mode supports workstation access without internet connectivity, a meaningful advantage for shared or intermittently connected environments. Multi-profile support lets users pair multiple smartphones and computers, while Remote Lock lets them lock a workstation from a smartphone. These capabilities address operational needs beyond browser sign-in.

Integrations connect identity providers including Entra ID, Okta, and Ping, along with RADIUS infrastructure and SIEM platforms. HYPR is also an external authentication method partner for Microsoft Entra ID, providing FIDO2 passwordless MFA for Entra policies and downstream apps. A customizable interface can carry a company's branding. Reported certifications include SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, and FIDO2, FIDO UAF, FIDO U2F, and FIDO Server.

Pricing

HYPR offers a free pilot for up to 50 users, useful for evaluating a deployment at limited scale. The product also has a free plan and free trial; the published plan tiers below are paid.

Identity Assurance Access — 3.00 USD per month, billed monthly: Web access, phishing-resistant onboarding and recovery, and policy controls. This is the entry tier for organizations focused on web access; it does not include the endpoint access and desktop MFA described in higher tiers.
Identity Assurance Plus — 6.00 USD per month, billed monthly: Adds web and endpoint access, desktop MFA, VPN and VDI support, and identity risk orchestration. It is the better fit when workstation and remote-access coverage are central.
Identity Assurance Advanced — 9.00 USD per month, billed monthly: Includes web and endpoint access, desktop MFA, identity verification, and customizable identity risk orchestration. Choose it when verification and tailored risk orchestration justify the additional cost over Plus.

The stated paid starting price is $3/user/mo. The plan prices are monthly, but no seat minimum or plan-specific user cap is given; the only explicit user limit is the 50-user free pilot.

Platforms

HYPR lists Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux, web, and API support. Its documented Passwordless clients cover Windows 10/11 and macOS 11 through 26; HYPR web authentication is compatible with FIDO2-certified devices. That mix is relevant for cross-platform fleets, but organizations should verify that their specific client versions and access paths are covered.

Who it's for

HYPR is a strong fit for enterprises replacing password-based workforce sign-in across shared access environments, mixed Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile fleets, VDI, VPN, RDP, and browser-based SaaS. Offline workstation access and multiple paired devices extend its usefulness beyond always-connected, single-device setups. It is less compelling for buyers seeking only a consumer authenticator or unable to align their clients with HYPR's supported environments.

Pros and cons

Pro: Passkey-based MFA avoids passwords and shared secrets, with biometrics or a decentralized PIN for phone approvals.
Pro: Offline workstation access, multi-profile pairing, and remote workstation lock address practical enterprise access and administration needs.
Pro: Entra ID, Okta, Ping, RADIUS, and SIEM integrations can fit into broader identity environments.
Con: The lowest priced tier is web-only; endpoint access, desktop MFA, VPN, and VDI require Plus or Advanced.
Con: The documented Windows and macOS client versions make compatibility checks important for organizations with other endpoint configurations.

Verdict

Choose HYPR Authenticate if your organization wants passkey-based workforce sign-in across endpoints, VDI, VPN, web apps, and offline workstation scenarios, especially where Entra ID or other listed identity integrations matter. Its main drawback is that endpoint and remote-access coverage starts above the web-only entry tier, while client compatibility needs careful alignment. Organizations seeking a narrower authenticator or a different supported footprint should compare alternatives.
