Overview

Make is best suited to people and teams joining several apps into workflows with branching steps, custom data handling, or AI services. Its visual builder and broad integration options give it room to handle complex automations, but credit consumption and plan-specific execution limits deserve attention as workflows grow.

Scenarios can be assembled with drag-and-drop modules or built in code or from a prompt. Conditional controls, data manipulation, webhooks, HTTP requests, notes, and analytics give users ways to shape and monitor processes rather than simply pass information between two apps. That flexibility is useful when workflows need exceptions or custom connections, but is more than a simple, fixed handoff requires.

Make offers over 3,000 pre-built apps and integrations, plus custom apps that can be shared within an organization and connections to public APIs. Its REST API can access Make data and control the platform through HTTP requests. AI features include Maia for natural-language automation building, AI tools, agents for orchestrating complex workflows, and more than 300 AI app integrations.

Key features

Visual workflow building: Multi-step scenarios can be built visually, in code, or with a prompt, making the platform approachable to different working styles while preserving room for customization.
Controls and execution: Conditional flow control, parallel scenario execution, and priority execution during peak usage support workflows with branching logic or competing run needs. Execution time and file-size ceilings still vary by plan.
Broad connectivity: The app library, custom apps, public API connections, and on-prem agent provide options for linking cloud services and local business apps such as SAP. The Teams plan also provides access to more than 300 Make API endpoints.
Mobile and AI: Android and iOS apps can monitor phone events and perform actions on a device. AI agents and tools, Maia, and AI app integrations extend automation into AI workflows, though some AI-provider actions consume more credits than most other actions.
Security and administration: Make lists GDPR, SOC 3, and SOC 2 Type II compliance, encryption, and single sign-on. It says data at rest uses full-disk AES-256 encryption with AWS Key Management Service, while network traffic uses TLS 1.2 and 1.3 with AES-256; hosting is accessible only through a private network via VPN.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, billed monthly, has no time limit, and requires no credit card. It includes up to 1,000 credits per month, two active scenarios, a 15-minute minimum scheduled-run interval, five-minute maximum execution, and a 5 MB maximum file size. Customer support is included. This is a low-commitment way to build and evaluate scenarios, but the credit cap and scheduling interval can constrain regular or time-sensitive automation.

Core costs 9.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 10,000 credits per month, unlimited active scenarios, a one-minute minimum interval, 40-minute maximum execution, and a 100 MB maximum file size. It is the practical step up for users who need more frequent schedules and longer runs; it does not add the priority execution, team roles, or log-retention terms stated for higher tiers.

Pro costs 16.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and is described for individuals and SMB teams automating across multiple workflows, with a price for 5k credits/mo. Its listed allowance is 10,000 credits per month, with unlimited active scenarios, priority scenario execution, a 250 MB maximum file size, and 30-day execution-log storage. Teams costs 29.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and keeps the 10,000-credit allowance and unlimited scenarios while adding teams and team roles, a 500 MB maximum file size, and 30-day log storage. Pro suits users who value priority execution; Teams is the clearer fit when shared permissions and collaboration matter.

Enterprise uses custom pricing for organizations running critical business processes. It includes custom functions, enterprise app integrations, 24/7 support, overage protection, advanced security features, and a 1,000 MB maximum file size, making it the tier aimed at larger or business-critical deployments. Across paid plans, remember that each module action consumes credits; most use one, while some AI-provider features use more.

Platforms

Make is available on web, Android, iOS, and through its API. The On-prem agent provides access to local networks and business apps, and deployment is on AWS in the EU and North America.

Who it's for

Make is a strong fit for individuals and teams that need to coordinate multiple services, build conditional or multi-step workflows, or connect APIs and local systems. Its larger plans add roles, execution priority, bigger file limits, and enterprise support for organizational needs. It is less compelling for a simple automation with few steps or for users who need to avoid monitoring credit use and plan caps.

Pros and cons

Pros: More than 3,000 integrations, custom apps, and public API connections can cover a wide range of systems; visual, code, and prompt-based building suit different levels of technical involvement; conditional logic, data tools, and webhooks support complex processes.
Cons: The Free plan's 1,000 monthly credits, two-scenario limit, and 15-minute schedule interval are restrictive for heavier or faster-running use; credits are charged per module action, with some AI actions consuming more; collaboration features such as team roles are reserved for Teams.

Alternatives

For a lighter starting point, Zapier has a free plan with 100 tasks per month and two-step workflows, and its Professional and Team plans offer a free trial. Activepieces is another free option, with 1,000 monthly credits, unlimited flows, and a single user on its Free plan. Latenode offers 10,000 CPU seconds per month, five active workflows, and one parallel execution on its Free plan.

Knit offers a free plan and lists a Start Up plan at 499.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with 100K API calls per month, unlimited data usage, three test accounts, and three-day log retention. Pabbly Connect has a free plan with 100 tasks per month and unlimited workflows. Kestra is an Apache 2.0-licensed open-source option with web, API, desktop, and self-hosted platform support.

Rayven Integration Platform offers a free plan with 2,500 hourly reads and writes, one workspace user, and one data stream or device. Celigo has a free plan limited to two endpoints, one flow, and one production environment. Verdict

Choose Make if you need a flexible visual platform for connecting many apps and shaping multi-step workflows, especially when APIs, custom apps, or AI services are involved. Its integration breadth and workflow controls are the main draw; look elsewhere if your needs are simple or the credit model and execution limits would make usage difficult to manage.
