Overview

Amadine is vector graphics software for illustrators, digital artists, and designers who need scalable artwork on Apple devices. Its mix of drawing tools, flexible text, and broad file support makes it a capable option for that work, but the free version cannot export or print finished designs.

Key features

More than 30 tools cover selection, drawing, editing, and typing, including Pen, Draw, Width, and Image Trace. That range supports varied illustration and vector-editing tasks, but Image Trace is unavailable until the app is licensed, so the free version cannot complete workflows that depend on converting images into vector artwork.

Typography goes beyond basic labels: text can follow a path, sit inside a shape, or flow between linked text boxes. Those controls are useful for compositions with shaped or column-based text. Shadow, Inner Shadow, Blur, Inner Glow, and Outer Glow add raster effects to designs, balancing scalable vector work with familiar visual treatments.

Amadine imports SVG, PDF, and AI vector files, as well as JPEG, TIFF, PNG, and HEIC images. It exports vector work as SVG or PDF and raster work as JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or PDF. This gives designers useful flexibility when bringing in existing assets or delivering work in common formats, though exporting requires a purchase. Images can also be imported directly from Pexels, Pixabay, and Unsplash; that convenience depends on an internet connection.

Pricing

The free version costs 0.00 USD and is fully operational on iPad and iPhone, but exporting, printing, and image tracing require a purchase. It can serve for exploring the tools or developing work on-device, but it is not a finished-file workflow without a license.

The iPad/iPhone subscription is 2.99 USD per month, billed monthly. In-app purchases are also offered monthly, yearly, or for a lifetime; the iPad/iPhone in-app purchase is shown at 2.99 USD per month, with month, year, and lifetime options.

For Mac, the single-user lifetime license is 29.99 USD per once and covers one user. The family lifetime license is 49.99 USD per once and covers five seats, making it the more relevant choice for a household or small group sharing access. Both are one-time lifetime licenses rather than recurring monthly charges. Mac purchases made directly from BeLight carry a 30-day money-back guarantee; App Store purchases follow Apple’s policy.

Platforms

Amadine runs on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. The current requirements are macOS 11 or higher and iPadOS or iOS 15 or higher. That gives Apple-device users options across desktop and mobile, but it is not a fit for readers working on other platforms.

Who it's for

Amadine suits digital artists, illustrators, and web designers who make scalable vector artwork and value typography controls, raster effects, or the ability to move among Mac, iPad, and iPhone. It is a poorer fit for anyone who needs unrestricted exporting, printing, or image tracing without paying, or who needs software outside Apple’s platforms.

Pros and cons

Pros: More than 30 drawing, editing, and typing tools support a broad range of vector work.
Pros: Text-on-path, text-in-shape, and linked text boxes offer useful layout control beyond basic typography.
Pros: Import and export support spans common vector and raster formats, with direct stock-image imports from three services.
Cons: The free version blocks exporting and printing, so it cannot deliver finished files without a purchase.
Cons: Image Trace is also locked in the unlicensed copy, limiting a notable tool in the free workflow.
Cons: The app is limited to Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and stock-image importing requires an internet connection.

Verdict

Amadine is a strong choice for Apple-device artists and designers who want vector tools, more expressive typography, and useful raster effects in one app. Its biggest practical drawback is the free version’s inability to export or print; choose a paid license if those capabilities matter, and look elsewhere if you need a non-Apple platform.
