Overview

Altered Studio brings voice morphing, cloning, speech generation, and audio-production tools together for recorded and live workflows. It suits creators and studios that need more than a standalone voice changer, especially podcasters, game teams, and eLearning producers.

Its breadth is the draw; the trade-off is a steep desktop requirement and a small free morphing allowance. Choose it when voice transformation and production belong in the same workflow, not when mobile access or generous free use is essential.

Key features

Voice transformation and production

Speech-to-Speech, Performance-to-Performance morphing changes the voice while preserving the speaker’s performance. That distinction matters for dialogue and character work where delivery should remain intact. Studio also handles text-to-speech, voice cloning, AI voice cleaning, denoising, editing, DSP effects, and batch processing, giving production teams a wider toolkit than a voice-only utility. It supports both recorded-audio changes and real-time changing, with audio export.

Rapid Voice Clone uses 4–8 seconds of audio, making a quick local clone possible without a lengthy recording. Custom voice models require contacting Altered, so teams needing tailored models should expect a more involved route.

Languages and workflow connections

Transcription and translation support 75+ languages; text-to-speech voice-over supports 70+. This range is useful for multilingual projects, though the separate figures should not be confused as identical coverage. The online Voice Editor can work with Google Drive audio, while RealTime Pro routes sound through a virtual microphone to Discord, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet.

Altered says RealTime Pro processes locally on the PC and keeps voice data on that PC; enterprise customers can also use cloud computing. Google Drive access is optional, and Google user data is used only to provide or improve user-facing application features.

Pricing

Altered Studio is freemium, with a 7-day trial and paid plans starting at $30.00 USD per month billed annually. The free plan is useful for a limited evaluation, but its 3 minutes of monthly voice morphing and attribution license make it a poor fit for sustained or commercial production; noncommercial use requires credit. It also includes 10,000 AI tokens and local voice cloning.

Free: 0.00 USD per free; 3 minutes/month voice morphing, 10,000 AI tokens, local voice cloning, and an attribution license.
Creator: 30.00 USD per month, billed annually; 60 minutes/month morphing, 325,000 AI tokens, local cloning, accent morphing, and speaking-style morphing. This is the entry paid tier for creators who can work within a monthly quota.
Professional: 90.00 USD per month, billed annually; 180 minutes/month morphing, 1,000,000 AI tokens, unlimited local morphing, flexible and performance morphing, and 48kHz output. The higher spend makes sense for heavier workflows needing the expanded morphing options and output quality.
Enterprise: custom pricing; unlimited voice morphing and tokens, custom voice models, API access, multi-seat support, and a dedicated account manager. It is the relevant tier for teams needing seats or integration.

Creator and Professional quotas distinguish monthly voice-morphing minutes from token allowances. Enterprise is the only plan with multi-seat and API access; API access is offered to Enterprise customers for integrating Studio into other systems.

Platforms

Studio supports web, macOS, Windows, and API workflows, though API access is for Enterprise customers. The desktop version requires a Windows PC with an 8GB+ Nvidia GPU. Despite the broader platform support, Altered Studio is not currently supported on mobile devices, limiting it for phone-first users.

Who it's for

Podcasters, video game studios, and eLearning producers are natural fits when they need voice changes, cleanup, generation, and editing in one place. Multilingual creators can draw on its transcription, translation, and voice-over language coverage. Users seeking a lightweight mobile changer, or a desktop workflow without the specified GPU, should look elsewhere. Altered says it takes measures against illegal or harmful use and may refuse to license or sell when a client’s conduct or intentions are unclear.

Pros and cons

Pro: Morphing preserves performance, a meaningful advantage for transforming expressive dialogue rather than replacing its delivery.
Pro: Live routing, recorded-audio editing, cleanup, batch processing, and export cover multiple production stages.
Pro: Rapid Voice Clone needs only 4–8 seconds of audio, and language support spans transcription, translation, and voice-over.
Con: The free plan allows only 3 minutes of monthly morphing and requires attribution, constraining regular use.
Con: Desktop use requires a Windows PC with an 8GB+ Nvidia GPU, and there is no mobile support.
Con: API, multi-seat access, and custom models sit behind Enterprise, whose pricing is custom.

Alternatives

Choose Kits AI if its free plan’s 15 conversion minutes better match a limited conversion workflow, or if you need its voice designer/blender and generative vocals. Applio is the alternative for users who prioritize free, open-source MIT-licensed software without accounts or paywalls.

ElevenLabs offers a free plan with 10,000 credits per month and three Studio projects, a different fit for users focused on that credit-based plan. Voice Morph is an alternative.

Audimee has a free plan with 15 minutes of conversions and 11 royalty-free voices, but limits downloads to MP3 and use to personal projects. LALAL.AI is an alternative for users who need Android or iOS support.

AudioPod AI is another alternative. IK Multimedia ReSing is an alternative for macOS or Windows users seeking a one-time-purchase plan alongside a free tier.

For broader browsing, compare AI Voice Conversion Software, Game Voice Generators, AI Voice Changer Software, Voice Changer Software, AI Voice Cloning Software, and Text-to-Speech Software.

Verdict

Altered Studio is a strong choice for creators and production teams who want performance-preserving voice morphing alongside cloning, speech tools, and audio cleanup. Its main reason to choose it is the breadth of that combined workflow; its main reasons to look elsewhere are the demanding desktop requirement, limited free morphing, and Enterprise-only API and multi-seat access.
