Overview

Temp-Mail.org creates disposable addresses that keep incoming messages separate from a regular inbox. It suits people handling quick, non-sensitive sign-ups and developers automating email-flow tests. The free tier is convenient for short-lived messages, but the service’s receive-only design, brief retention and public-message warning limit its use for anything important.

Key features

Users can get an address without registration, then copy it, refresh its inbox, change it or delete it. Messages can include attachments, which free users can download as EML files. These controls make the service practical for one-off verifications, but not for conversations: sending and replying are disabled.

Free messages are kept for up to 1–2 hours, so a delayed verification or a message needed later may be lost. Premium extends storage to one month. The privacy policy says IP addresses are not stored and temporary email data is permanently deleted after its lifetime expires, but those measures do not remove the central privacy concern: under the terms, any user may be able to view messages in the public system. Do not use it for confidential mail or important accounts.

The API supports automated email-workflow testing with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or Puppeteer, with documentation linked through RapidAPI. That can make Temp-Mail.org useful in a development workflow, but it is not a universal test inbox: government services and major financial institutions cannot send messages, and some role addresses, including admin@ and postmaster@, cannot be read.

The Android app can generate addresses, receive email and attachments, and send push notifications for new mail. The service also offers web, iOS and extension access, while premium desktop-web plans are limited to desktop web. Premium adds up to 10 simultaneous mailboxes, premium domains, private addresses, faster dedicated support and an ad-free experience.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes free domains, receive-only messages and storage for up to 1–2 hours. It is the sensible choice for a quick, non-sensitive verification, but the short retention and public-system caveat make it a poor fit for messages that need privacy or later access.

Temp-Mail Premium monthly costs 10.00 USD per month, billed monthly and auto-renewing. It includes up to 10 mailboxes, premium domains, one-month message storage and an ad-free experience. Premium yearly costs 60.00 USD per year, billed yearly and auto-renewing, with a 50% discount; it includes the same listed features. Both paid plans are desktop-web only, so they do not extend premium access to the Android app, iOS or extension. Premium’s private addresses and longer retention better suit users who need more control and time to retrieve messages, but the service remains receive-only.

Platforms

Temp-Mail.org supports Android, iOS, web, browser extension and API access. Its Android app’s push notifications can help users notice new mail promptly, while the API is aimed at automated testing. Paid plans are restricted to desktop web.

Who it's for

Choose Temp-Mail.org for brief, low-stakes sign-ups or automated email-flow tests where disposable addresses are useful and a message need not be kept. It is a poor choice for private correspondence, important account recovery or services that block its addresses. The inability to send mail also rules it out as a temporary alternative for two-way communication.

Pros and cons

Pros: No registration is required, and inbox controls make it straightforward to replace or remove an address.
Pros: Free attachment receipt and EML downloads help with quick verifications that include files.
Pros: API support for common browser-automation tools gives developers a route to email-workflow testing.
Cons: Free messages last only up to 1–2 hours, limiting later retrieval.
Cons: Public-system messages may be visible to other users, making the service unsuitable for confidential or important mail.
Cons: Sending is disabled, and delivery restrictions exclude some government, financial and role-address scenarios.
Cons: Premium plans are desktop-web only, despite the service’s mobile and extension platforms.

Alternatives

EmailOnDeck is another freemium option; its free plan is ad-supported, allows one email at a time and describes private emails with securely wiped logs. Consider it when those stated privacy and cleanup characteristics matter more than Temp-Mail.org’s API testing support.

TempMailPortal offers free web and Android inbox access, with messages expiring within up to 24 hours. It is a better fit if a longer stated free message window matters more than Temp-Mail.org’s iOS, extension and API platform coverage.

MailTub is a free alternative with Android, iOS, API, desktop and self-hosted platform options.

Temp Mail API is a freemium alternative whose premium plan describes 1,000 API requests per month, 10 custom domains, saved messages, unlimited forwarding and 10 emails at once. It may suit a workflow needing those stated API allowances rather than Temp-Mail.org’s premium desktop-web mailbox plan.

Emailnator has a free tier with no signup, public inboxes, deletion after 24 hours and up to 100 addresses at once. Consider it when address volume and a longer stated free message lifetime outweigh the need for Temp-Mail.org’s stated automation-tool integrations.

MailDrop is a freemium API-and-web option; its free plan allows 300 requests per day and one mailbox per 24 hours, while Starter costs 5.00 USD per month and includes 30,000 requests per month and 10 mailboxes per 24 hours. It may be a better fit when explicit request and mailbox quotas are central to the decision.

Mailinator is a freemium API-and-web alternative with a free trial and a Verified Pro plan describing unlimited private inboxes, one private domain and permanent storage. Consider it if those stated private-inbox and storage terms fit better.

Mohmal is a web-only freemium alternative with a Lifetime Free plan that includes an own domain, three inbox records, three saved messages, attachment viewing, premium domains and priority support. Its stated saved-message and own-domain features may suit users whose needs are not met by Temp-Mail.org’s short-lived free inbox.

Verdict

Temp-Mail.org is best for users who need a disposable address for a quick, non-sensitive message, and for developers testing email workflows through its API. No-registration access, attachment handling and broad platform support make it useful for that narrow job. Look elsewhere for confidential or important mail, longer free retention, or any need to send a reply.
