Overview

EmailOnDeck centers on temporary inboxes rather than a lasting mailbox. A free address usually remains accessible for hours—often most of the day and more than an hour—but closing the browser or clearing cookies can end access sooner. That suits one-off confirmations; it is a poor choice for accounts whose recovery messages or receipts may matter later.

The service says it uses HTTPS and TLS, continuously wipes servers and logs, keeps no backups, and overwrites deleted disks with zeros before reuse. Its hosting facility is stated to be SOC 2 Type II and PCI-DSS certified. Those practices address transport and storage, but an inbox designed to expire still should not be treated as an archive.

Key features

Free users can keep one email active at a time and can send only to other EmailOnDeck addresses. Pro raises the simultaneous allowance to 100 or more, adds custom and saved addresses and exclusive domains, and permits anonymous email to anyone. That makes the paid tier materially more capable for outbound use, although sending is not available through the API.

Messages can include attachments that users may view or download from the message view. The free Spy Pixel Scanner runs in the browser; EmailOnDeck says pasted email source is not uploaded or stored. Its Pro API can create and delete addresses, list domains, count messages, view headers, and retrieve raw messages. The daily limit is 25,000 calls, and access requires an active Pro account plus a 40-character private API key.

EmailOnDeck directs users to contact it if messages display incorrectly or the service fails on a site. The website is owned and operated by Lucid LX LLC.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 BTC per free, is billed forever, and is ad supported. It allows one email at a time, private emails, and securely wiped logs. This is enough for occasional receiving, but the hours-long inbox lifetime, early loss of access if browser data is cleared, and restriction on sending to outside addresses make it unsuitable for dependable ongoing correspondence.

PRO (Bitcoin) costs 0.00 BTC per once; each payment extends access for 30 days. It removes ads and includes 100+ emails at a time, sending, custom and saved addresses, exclusive domains, and API access. Despite the zero-BTC amount shown, access is extended by each payment, so it is not described as a permanent purchase. PRO (Ethereum) has the same listed features and 30-day extension term, at 0.03 ETH per once. Neither Pro option changes the API's 25,000-call daily cap or enables sending through the API.

Platforms

EmailOnDeck is available on web, Android, iOS, and browser extensions, and offers an API. Its free iPhone and Android apps make temporary inbox access available on mobile. Chrome and Firefox extensions create disposable email addresses; the Chrome extension says it requests access only to www.emailondeck.com, rather than browsing history or all websites. API access is a Pro feature, so the broader platform reach does not make the service's automation interface free.

Who it's for

Choose EmailOnDeck for short-lived sign-ups, confirmations, and privacy-conscious receiving when you do not need to retain the inbox. Pro is a better fit for users managing many temporary addresses, needing custom addresses or exclusive domains, or sending anonymous messages to external recipients. It is not a sensible primary email account, and readers who need message retention beyond hours should choose a service with a longer stated retention window.

Pros and cons

Pro supports substantial address volume. The 100+ simultaneous-email allowance, custom and saved addresses, and exclusive domains give frequent users more flexibility than the one-address free tier.
Attachments are usable, not just visible as notices. Users can view or download them from a message.
Clearer extension scope on Chrome. The extension says it requests access to EmailOnDeck's site rather than browsing history or all websites.
Free inbox access can disappear early. Closing the browser or clearing cookies may end access before the usual hours-long lifetime.
Free sending is tightly restricted. It works only to other EmailOnDeck addresses; sending to anyone requires Pro.
API users need Pro and still cannot send by API. The API is limited to address and message-management functions, with a 25,000-call daily ceiling.

Alternatives

Browse Disposable Email Services or Temporary Email Services for more options in the category.

Temp-Mail.org is a comparable cross-platform freemium option; choose it if its free domains and receive-only inboxes, which retain messages for 1–2 hours, suit your needs better than EmailOnDeck's hours-long access.
MailTub is a free alternative with Android, iOS, web, API, Linux, macOS, Windows, and self-hosted platforms.
Temp Mail API is another cross-platform freemium option; consider it when a published Premium tier with 1,000 API requests per month, 10 custom domains, and saved messages better fits your API needs. Its Premium price is custom pricing.
MailDrop offers a free web and API tier with 300 requests per day and one mailbox per 24 hours, plus a $5.00 USD per month Starter plan with 30,000 monthly requests and 10 mailboxes per 24 hours; choose it if those request and mailbox quotas suit your workflow better.
Mailinator is a web and API freemium option with a free Verified Pro tier that includes unlimited private inboxes, one private domain, 10MB permanent storage, and up to 2K emails per month; prefer it when that stated permanent storage and private-inbox allowance matter more than EmailOnDeck's short-lived inbox model.
Mohmal is a web freemium alternative with a free tier that includes an own domain, three inbox records, three saved messages, attachment viewing, and premium domains; consider it when those retention-oriented allowances matter more.
SecureTempMail is a freemium service for web, API, extensions, desktop platforms, with a $39.00 USD per year Premium plan that includes up to 30-day retention and attachment downloads; choose it if a longer stated retention window is a priority.
Tempr.email is a web freemium option whose free plan keeps messages for 30 days; choose it if retaining disposable-email messages longer is more important than EmailOnDeck's wider platform selection.

Verdict

EmailOnDeck is a strong fit for people who want quick temporary receiving on web, mobile, or through a browser extension, with Pro available for higher address volume and anonymous outbound email. The main reason to choose it is that mix of disposable inbox access and optional address-management tools. Look elsewhere if you need durable message retention, free external sending, or API-based sending.
