Spelling Shed
Severn House, River Side North, Bewdley, England, DY12 1AB
What it is
Spelling Shed is a spelling platform for students, teachers, and parents, available on Android, iOS, and the web. Its whole-school curriculum covers ELA spelling standards, including statutory words and spelling rules. Teachers can manage student records, teachers, classes, and homework assignments in the teacher hub. Users can create unlimited custom lists and search for others in the platform. Whole-class Hive Games let pupils play alongside each other as an alternative to a weekly spelling test. The game offers three difficulty levels and uses the Open Dyslexic font. The app supports full offline play, while QR-code scanning can import lists or sign users in. Versions are adapted for the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, and Cambridge International curricula. EdShed says it complies with GDPR, COPPA, and FERPA, has annual independent security testing, and stores data at a London data centre. The free plan includes tests, Hive games, challenges, and custom leagues with seven days of history. A listed iOS app costs $2.99 once.
