Receipt Wrangler
What it is
Receipt Wrangler is a free, self-hosted tool for organizing receipts and managing expense data. It uses OCR to read receipt images and AI to turn extracted details into receipt records. Quick Scan accepts one or many images and single- or multi-page PDFs, and can save parsed receipts immediately. Magic Fill uses an uploaded image to populate receipt fields with extracted values that users can edit before saving. Users can share receipts and track expenses with others, while email integration can add image attachments to a group as separate receipts. Optional AI providers include OpenAI, Google Gemini, and self-hosted OpenAI-compatible models such as Ollama. The application is designed to run in Docker and Docker Compose alongside a supported database and Redis. Database options are SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB; SQLite is not recommended for long-term use. API keys let external applications or services interact with permissions inherited from the associated user. The privacy policy says personal information is not collected. When AI features are enabled, potentially identifying details such as partial card numbers or names may be sent to OpenAI or Google Gemini. Mobile crash and error reporting is on by default and can be disabled in Profile → Privacy.
