National Academic Depository
New Delhi, India
What it is
National Academic Depository is a free online repository for academic awards issued by educational institutions. It can hold degrees, diplomas, certificates, mark sheets, and evaluation reports in digital form. Institutions register with an official email, identify an authorized senior official, submit details for verification, and then upload award data in zipped CSV format or through a secure API. Standard templates, dashboards, upload status, publication status, and restart controls support that workflow. Institutions cannot replace NAD templates with their own designs and remain responsible for accurate records and for digitizing legacy awards. Students retrieve published awards through DigiLocker without separate NAD registration, using the web or mobile app. With student consent, employers, banks, government bodies, and other verifiers can check authenticity. NAD states that digital awards are legally valid under India’s Information Technology Act, 2000, while maintaining award authenticity, integrity, and confidentiality.
