Microsoft Sway
What it is
Microsoft Sway is an interactive canvas for creating and sharing visual designs from images, text, documents, videos, maps, and other content. Its design engine arranges material into an interactive result that users can modify, then share with customers or colleagues through a link. Sway is available on the web, Android, and iOS, and can import PowerPoint files, but it cannot export to PowerPoint and does not offer offline access. Users can start from a topic or document, remix designs, add closed captions or audio recordings, and view counts. Files can be added from OneDrive, and Word or OneNote content can be turned into a Sway. All listed plans include Accessibility View and Accessibility Checker. The free plan is available with a Microsoft Account and costs nothing. Microsoft 365 plans add features such as password protection, user-created templates, autoplay, logos, personal analytics, and removal of Sway branding. Since June 10, 2024, multimedia uploads are no longer supported; audio and video files can only be embedded.

The verdict
Sway offers a free way to assemble interactive visual designs and share them by link. Its online-only access, lack of PowerPoint export, and embedded-only audio and video are important limits to weigh.
Who it suits
Sway suits people creating and sharing visual presentations or designs through a link, especially those working from documents or PowerPoint imports. It requires an online connection and does not export to PowerPoint.
