Google Keep

Google Keep · Mountain View, California, United States · founded 1998

What it is

Google Keep is a free service for creating and sharing notes, lists, photos, drawings and audio. Users can search notes and organize them with colors, labels, pins and filters, with a limit of 50 labels. Reminders can be added to notes, and those reminders can also be viewed in Google Tasks and Google Calendar. Notes can be updated offline and sync after a device reconnects. Keep supports real-time collaboration on shared notes, including editing text, lists, images, drawings and audio recordings. If the owner deletes a shared note, it is deleted for everyone; colors, labels and pins on shared notes are visible only to the person who set them. Keep is available on the web, Android and iOS, with a Chrome extension for saving URLs, text and images. Notes can be added from Google Workspace apps and exported to Google Docs. Listed integrations include Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides. Google says data in transit is protected with HTTPS and Transport Layer Security. Workspace administrators can control access for organizations or selected groups, and Google Drive must be enabled for Keep.
