Fonto Editor
What it is
Fonto Editor is an online XML editor for authors who may not have XML or structured-content experience. It validates edits in real time against the active XML schema, including DITA, JATS, S1000D, and custom schemas. Authors can add comments and metadata, restructure material with drag and drop, copy and paste, and track changes. The editor supports version control, translation, review workflows, and previews for HTML, PDF, e-books, learning platforms, magazines, and manuals. It supports schemas such as BITS, DocBook, NISO STS, TEI, and bespoke designs, and integrates MathType by WIRIS for formulas. Fonto lists API, self-hosted, and web availability, plus integrations with repositories and content systems including Alfresco, SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Drive, OpenText, and FileNet. It does not store content or provide workflow, so an external CMS, workflow system, or repository is required. Pricing is on request, with a free trial.
