Bookkeep
What it is
Bookkeep automates accounting work for ecommerce and retail businesses, including daily journal entries, revenue recognition, sales tax, and payout reconciliation. It creates accrual-based daily entries mapped to a customer’s accounting structure and tracks order fulfillment so revenue is recognized when earned rather than when payment arrives. Sales data from channels such as Shopify, Amazon, PayPal, and Square can be consolidated into daily entries. Listed integrations also include Toast, Stripe, QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and Zoho Books. Bookkeep offers managed U.S. sales tax filing for Shopify and Square POS merchants who enroll. Its payout-splitting service distributes deposits among bank accounts by store, franchise, or fulfillment location. Lite costs $19 a month, and a 14-day trial is available. The trial does not permit posting historical journal entries; those are billed at $0.35 per entry. Bookkeep is available through web and API and has no free plan.
