T Mobile earlier announced that it would start selling the Galaxy S5 in ‘shimmering metallic gold’ beginning May 30th. Now, it turns that this will be the launch date for all of the major carriers in the US. By the end of the month, the limited edition Gold Galaxy S5 will also be available from the likes of AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular, and Verizon.
One of the highlights of the Galaxy S5 is the fingerprint scanner on the home button, a heart rate sensor placed near the 16-megapixel camera and the IP67 certification that makes it dust and water-resistant. The smartphone also features a new design with a perforated back panel, wider availability of colors, and optional designer back panels.
Key specs on the Galaxy S5 include a 5.10-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at a pixel density of 432 pixels per inch (ppi) and an aspect ratio of 16:9. Under the hood, the handset gets powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S5 runs Android 4.4.2 and packs a 2800mAh removable battery.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy S5 on the rear packs a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a pixel size of 1.12-micron. The rear camera setup has phase detection autofocus. It sports a 2-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/2.4 aperture.
