To make an AI cover in your own voice, start with a clean recording of your singing, train or select a voice model using only your own authorized vocals, then convert a vocal performance or build a sung draft and mix it with an instrumental. Vocalize is the clearest fit for an AI-cover workflow; LyricToMelody AI can train a custom singing voice and create sung drafts. Prepare A Clean Vocal And A Cover Plan
For a convincing cover, the model needs a clear vocal performance to transform, while the arrangement needs to leave room for the lead melody. A recording with instrumental music underneath may make it harder to work with the voice separately. On your Galaxy phone, record a short sample of your own singing in a quiet room. Keep the phone at a steady distance, sing at a comfortable volume, and avoid music playing in the background. The tools’ listings do not specify the ideal sample length, file format or recording settings for training, so check the chosen vendor’s instructions before uploading.
Write a short arrangement brief before you start. For example: “Keep the original lead melody recognizable; use a lower-energy verse, a fuller chorus, and a short instrumental opening; keep the lead vocal clear over the accompaniment.” This is a planning example, not a claim about a particular tool’s prompt syntax or genre controls.

- Choose the source. Decide whether you will sing the cover yourself or start from a vocal recording you have permission to use. Keep the vocal performance separate from the instrumental when possible.
- Pick the matching workflow. Use Vocalize if you want its listed AI-cover and custom-voice tools. Use LyricToMelody AI if you want to train a singing voice from your vocals or make a sung draft from lyrics or MIDI. Choose Applio only if its desktop or self-hosted setup suits you.
- Train or select your own voice model. Follow the vendor’s current instructions to upload or record your own vocals where supported. Do not assume that every service accepts the same sample length or audio format.
- Convert the vocal or create a sung draft. In a voice-conversion workflow, provide the vocal performance and apply your own model as the target voice if the service supports that step. In LyricToMelody AI, use its listed lyrics-or-MIDI sung-draft workflow. Exact controls and supported cover inputs are not established for every product.
- Listen for musical fit. Check whether the melody remains clear, the words are intelligible, and the vocal sits naturally against the backing. If a phrase sounds strained, re-record or revise that phrase and process it again if the chosen tool permits; the product listings do not specify particular editing controls.
- Export and assemble the result. LyricToMelody AI lists audio and separate-stem exports for DAW production. For other tools, check the vendor’s site for export formats and mixing options before you plan the final mix.
Check Consent, Terms And Sharing Rights
Use your own voice recordings, and get permission before using another person’s voice or performance. Each platform has its own terms; review them for voice training, cover inputs, output use and distribution. LyricToMelody AI lists commercial rights as included on paid plans, while Vocalize says commercial use is restricted. Applio’s listing does not establish rights for a particular trained model or cover recording, so check its terms and the model’s license.
If you plan to upload a cover to Spotify, its September 2025 policy says vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist has authorized it, and it supports AI disclosures in credits. Spotify also announced an AI Persona badge in August 2026 for artist identities that may be AI-generated rather than a real person. These policies do not establish that a particular cover is cleared for distribution; check the relevant platform and rights terms for your release.
