No—not as an entirely AI-generated work. The Recording Academy’s current position is that only human creators can be nominated for or win a Grammy. A recording that uses AI-generated material may still be eligible when it includes meaningful human authorship or performance for its category. For a songwriting category, the Academy says a majority of the song must be written by a human; for a performance category, only a human performer can be recognized.
What “Meaningful Human Contribution” Means
The distinction is between using AI as part of making a recording and asking AI to make the work that is being judged. A text prompt alone does not make someone the author of the resulting music under the U.S. Copyright Office’s guidance. It says work generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, while human-authored parts of a mixed work may be protected. U.S. Copyright Office guidance on AI and copyright

For a Grammy entry, the relevant human contribution depends on the category. A person who writes or performs the central material has a clearer authorship or performance role than someone who only chooses a prompt or accepts an AI output. The Academy has not published a universal checklist for how much editing, arranging, or production makes a contribution “meaningful,” so do not treat a particular number of edits or hours of work as a guarantee of eligibility.
How To Use AI Without Making It The Songwriter Or Performer
On a Galaxy phone, Suno is one possible starting point: it is available on Android and can generate complete songs with vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, and production. Treat any generated track as source material to assess, not as proof that you qualify for a Grammy category. Suno

- Write down your intended human contribution first: for example, original lyrics, a melody you compose and sing, or an arrangement you build and perform.
- If you use generated audio for ideas, keep a record of what you generated and what you later wrote, performed, or changed. A prompt such as “rough demo idea: restrained verse, rising pre-chorus, broad chorus; leave space for a live vocal melody” can guide exploration, but the prompt itself does not establish human authorship.
- Make the human-created material substantial in the part of the work being entered. For a songwriting entry, the Academy’s stated standard is that a majority of the song must be human-written; for performance recognition, the performer must be human.
- Before submitting, check the current category rules and ask the Recording Academy Awards Department how they apply to your specific credits and recording. Eligibility is assessed by category, and the final determination is not made by the music-generation service.
Copyright, Credits, And Rights Are Separate Questions
Grammy eligibility does not establish who owns a recording or whether it can be used commercially. The Copyright Office says applicants registering a work containing more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material must disclose it and describe the human author’s contribution. Get consent before using a real person’s voice or performance, and check the platform’s terms for voice use, covers, samples, downloads, and commercial rights. Suno’s plan terms differ: its Free Plan does not include commercial rights, and its listed limitations say stem separation is not included on that plan. Those details do not determine Grammy eligibility; check Suno’s current terms before release.

What Galaxy Users Should Check Before Releasing A Track
- Save drafts and notes showing which lyrics, melodies, performances, and arrangement decisions you made yourself.
- Check the current AI disclosure requirements of the services where you plan to distribute or post the music. Spotify has announced AI-related protections and DDEX AI disclosures in credits; YouTube requires a label for realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real person’s performance.
- Review the relevant Grammy category rules, release requirements, and entry process for the award year. Using an Android app or creating a polished track on a phone does not change the authorship and performance criteria.
So, AI-generated music cannot win a Grammy on its own under the Academy’s stated policy. A human creator can be recognized for an eligible work that includes AI material when the human contribution meets the requirements of the relevant category.
