Xi-Batch
London, United Kingdom
What it is
Xi-Batch is self-hosted software for scheduling, sequencing, and controlling batch work across servers as an alternative to cron. Scheduling variables coordinate serial or parallel job chains, while calendar rules account for month ends, weekends, holidays, and daylight saving time. Jobs can start when monitored files are created, deleted, or amended. Administrators assign load values and queue ceilings to control which combinations run. Interfaces include command line, full-screen character, Motif, GTK3, and a programmer API. Jobs can use shell scripts and command processors such as Perl and SQL. Users must be defined before submitting work, and permissions control operations and visibility of other users’ jobs. After a restart, the queue is recovered automatically; aborted jobs can be sent for operator action or automatic recovery. Xi-Batch supports Linux and Windows, with Windows server support through optional client modules. It is intended for trusted operational networks or a single host, not untrusted-network exposure. Evaluation copies are available on request. The perpetual licence price requires a quotation.
