VidCoder
What it is
VidCoder is free, open-source Windows software for ripping DVDs and Blu-rays and transcoding video. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine, so HandBrake does not need a separate installation. Videos can be saved in MP4 or MKV containers using codecs such as AV1, H.265, H.264, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP9, VP8 and Theora. Batch conversion, simultaneous encodes and hardware acceleration are available through AMD VCE, Nvidia NVENC and Intel QuickSync. Encoding controls include bitrate, size or quality targets, multi-pass encoding, filters, pause and resume. A folder watcher can start encoding automatically, and customizable Pickers can select audio and subtitle tracks, destinations and titles. Audio options include AAC, MP3, Vorbis, AC3, TrueHD, Opus, FLAC and ALAC, with passthrough support. VidCoder does not defeat encryption on commercial discs. It comes as an installer, portable executable or zip archive; the zip version requires the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime and does not auto-update. The installer and portable versions have no prerequisites.
