What it is
Telepedia is a free web hosting service for public, community-run wikis about subjects such as television, movies, games, anime and manga, books and comics, and music. Users can create a wiki through a creation wizard without waiting for approval, or ask Telepedia to migrate an existing wiki. Hosted sites run on MediaWiki, free and open-source software. Administrators use ConfigCentre to manage settings, extensions, namespaces, user groups, and permissions. Available options include VisualEditor, MobileFrontend, YouTube, and interactive maps, with additional extensions available for evaluation on request. Telepedia also supports extensions and skins maintained by its own team, Wikimedia, and the community, while excluding tools such as Graph, Widgets, SemanticMediaWiki, SocialProfile, and chat or email extensions. Hosted wikis are searchable and expected to be public. Telepedia may place advertisements that owners cannot remove or modify. Staff support is available through a Support desk, and departing wikis receive XML dumps but not image dumps.
