Symantec IT Management Suite
What it is
Symantec IT Management Suite manages, patches, and remediates application and operating-system configurations on desktops, laptops, and servers. The suite combines Asset Management Suite, Client Management Suite, and Server Management Suite, which can be licensed together or separately. It supports automated patch management, on-demand assessments, Patch Now actions, and CVE-based reporting. Deployment tools include operating-system deployment, bare-metal provisioning, hardware-independent imaging, and software distribution. CMDB-backed discovery and inventory can track hardware, software, virtual assets, contracts, warranties, and license usage. Cloud-Enabled Management collects inventory and delivers patching and software updates to Windows and Mac devices outside the corporate network without a VPN. A self-service portal lets users request approved applications without opening support tickets. Support includes Microsoft, Red Hat, CentOS, SUSE, Windows, and Mac updates. Data Connector provides REST API exchange in ITMS 8.8.1 and later. Broadcom states that ITMS 8.7.x and 8.8.x require Microsoft SQL Server and do not support Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other non-Microsoft databases.
