ShyEditor
What it is
ShyEditor is a web-based AI writing studio for novelists, with tools for planning, drafting, revision, and book export. Its Story Engine can create a synopsis and chapter plan from a premise, while a knowledge base tracks characters, places, and events. The editor offers voice-aware sentence suggestions, grammar and style checks, writing goals, and streaks. Writers can request chapter critique and full-book feedback on plot logic, pacing, and prose style. Drafts can be imported from DOCX, TXT, or Markdown, with story details extracted into the knowledge base. Export depends on plan: Basic supports TXT, while Pro adds DOCX, PDF, and Markdown. Writing is stored locally in the browser and syncs when the user reconnects, but AI features require an internet connection. ShyEditor also describes academic writing and research tools, including citations, bibliography management, a PDF library, DOI source search, and research reports. Basic is free, starts with 100 AI credits and then provides 20 monthly; Pro costs $10/mo (annual) and includes 500 monthly credits. AI writing, grammar checking, and automatic advice do not use credits.
