ROMSorter
What it is
ROMSorter detects and renames ROMs and other games, with tools for organizing files and checking that they remain unchanged. It handles archives by creating ZIP files, extracting and recompressing supported formats, or unpacking files into a folder. It can identify identical files and place duplicates in a subfolder named after the original file. A catalog of file names and hashes supports later verification. ROMSorter can create DAT files for other ROM manager apps and use a supplied DAT to rename single-file games. It also converts BIN/CUE or ISO files to CHD and extracts CHD back to BIN/CUE with chdman. Sorting options include building one-game, one-ROM sets from Parent/Clone DAT files with region priorities and arranging Everdrive games by starting letter. Release 6 adds M3U playlist creation from CHD, BIN/CUE, and ISO discs, plus batch IPS/BPS patching. The current ROMSorter release is Win-x64 only; its Librarian command-line companion supports other platforms. Both require .NET 6. Linux and Mac Librarian users need a suitable MAME chdman build for CHD commands. It is free MIT-licensed software provided without warranty.
