Quantum StorNext
Centennial, Colorado, United States
What it is
Quantum StorNext is a shared-storage file system for collaboration and streaming workflows. It creates a unified namespace across flash, disk, object storage, and tape, with policy-driven lifecycle management across tiers. Quantum describes StorNext 7 as delivering multi-gigabyte-per-stream throughput, thousands of concurrent connections, and sub-millisecond latency. Applications on Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, and macOS can access and modify files in a shared SAN pool. Supported protocols include SMB, NFS, native StorNext LAN/SAN, and Xsan. Cloud targets include Amazon Web Services S3 and Quantum ActiveScale, with local caching, edge synchronization, object versioning, lifecycle rules, immutability, and cross-region replication. Deployments use supported Quantum appliances or registered customer-supplied hardware. Options include Xcellis metadata controllers, F-Series all-flash NVMe arrays, and QXS HDD or SSD RAID arrays. Xcellis supports a two-server high-availability pair. Pricing is on request, and a current Software Maintenance Contract is required for free software upgrades. Audit logs record file activity, but built-in automated alerting, anomaly detection, and ransomware detection are not provided.
