Prompt
Portland, Oregon, United States
What it is
Prompt is a native terminal emulator and SSH client for connecting to remote servers. It supports SSH, Mosh, Eternal Terminal, Telnet, port forwarding, and local shells on Mac, with tabs for managing sessions. Terminal features include optional GPU acceleration and mouse support for terminal applications; Panic describes its emulation as up to 10x faster. Users can save frequent commands as Clips and customize themes, fonts, and the iOS keyboard. Panic Sync can synchronize servers, passwords, keys, and Clips across Prompt devices, but sync is all-or-nothing and does not connect Prompt data with Transmit or Nova. Prompt can create device-specific Secure Enclave keys that cannot be exported or synced. The app is available on macOS, iOS/iPadOS, and visionOS; Prompt 3 is distributed exclusively through the App Store. Pricing includes a 7-day trial, a $$9.99/year subscription, and one-time purchase options listed at $$49 and $$49.99.
