Piggo

Denmark

What it is

Piggo is a family pocket money app for organizing allowances, chores, savings goals and children’s stock portfolios. Parents can schedule weekly or monthly transfers for each child, either in or out. Families can set recurring chores, one-time tasks and open tasks; a parent approves completed work before rewards reach the child’s account. Children can ask for deposits or withdrawals and include a note and receipt photo for a parent to accept or decline. Parents can set savings targets and pay interest on a child’s account. Each child can also have a small portfolio with prices refreshed daily, intended for information and education rather than securities trading or investment advice. Piggo does not hold, move or pay out real money, and is intended for a family’s own bookkeeping, with an adult managing the family. It is available on Android, iOS and web, and supports Danish, English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, Swedish and Norwegian. The plan is free while the app is in beta: free.

The verdict

Piggo combines family bookkeeping for allowances, chores and savings with an educational stock portfolio feature. Its limits are important: it does not handle real money, and an adult must manage the family.

Piggo suits families that want an adult-managed way to track children’s allowances, chores and savings. Its stock portfolio feature is informational and educational, not for trading.
