Morgenruf
What it is
Morgenruf is an open-source app for Slack teams running async standups, coffee chats, peer recognition, celebrations, and team insights. Its bot sends configurable questions by direct message and posts responses as a summary in a selected channel. Schedules can account for each person’s timezone, reminders, custom questions, and skipped check-ins. Coffee chats pair channel members, avoid repeat pairings, and form a group of three when needed; Zoom can book the agreed meeting time. Kudos uses a configurable daily allowance that resets in each person’s timezone and provides giving and receiving leaderboards. Slack is supported, Google Chat standups are described as beta, and Microsoft Teams support is in progress. Teams can use the hosted service or self-host the MIT-licensed app with Docker Compose or Helm, storing data in a controlled Postgres database. An MCP server lets Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot query standup data. Hosted standup responses are retained for 90 days.
