Idem
Berlin, Germany
What it is
Idem provides matchmaking infrastructure for multiplayer games, matching players by skill for casual or elite play. Its matchmaker supports PvPvP modes with any number of players per team and teams per match, pre-arranged parties, and replacement of players who leave. Matching rules can include ratings, game mode, team size, parties, roles or factions, latency, geography, region and custom criteria. It seeks suitable ping and can suggest a server location. Ratings use Bayesian updates similar to TrueSkill or Glicko II, while queue-liquidity analytics forecast how larger modes or ping constraints may affect availability. Idem offers managed cloud and self-hosted deployment. The free Community Edition is Open Match compatible and provides basic algorithm selection; advanced commercial matchmaking targets more complex needs. Self-hosted software runs as a lightweight, stateless container in customer infrastructure without external dependencies. A synchronous API accepts tickets and game-mode settings, then returns matches or unmatched tickets. REST and WebSocket integrations are documented, with WebSocket recommended for production.
