Gyeeta
What it is
Gyeeta is a free, open-source observability tool for Linux that uses eBPF and kernel statistics to monitor hosts, services, and processes without application instrumentation. It automatically discovers TCP services, clients, and dependencies, requiring no application code changes or configuration inputs. For TCP services, it reports query rates, latency, network throughput, active connections, and process resource use. Algorithms can detect service degradation or contention and suggest a probable cause. Data can be explored in the Web UI or through REST APIs, including JSON queries spanning multiple hosts. Alert notifications support email, Slack, PagerDuty, and webhooks. Gyeeta is self-hosted, with documentation stating that data stays in-house. Deployment options include shell scripts, Helm charts, Docker, rpm or deb packages, and tar files. Its architecture documentation describes monitoring tens of thousands of hosts with one central server and intermediate servers. It supports x86_64 Linux hosts with kernel 4.4 or newer.
For and against
For
- Free and open source under GPLv3
- Automatic TCP service and dependency discovery
- Queries span multiple hosts
- Alerts include email, Slack, PagerDuty, and webhooks
- Data stays in-house
Against
- Linux x86_64 hosts only
- Does not monitor application logs
- No UDP or Unix-socket service statistics
- OIDC/OAuth2 support is planned, not current
The verdict
Gyeeta combines agent-based Linux observability with automatic TCP discovery, service metrics, anomaly detection, and several alert channels. Its self-hosted design fits organizations keeping data in-house, but its protocol, platform, and authentication limits should be checked first.
Who it suits
Gyeeta suits teams running self-hosted Linux infrastructure that need TCP service and process visibility without instrumenting applications. It is intended for x86_64 hosts and supports web and API access.
