GSM
What it is
GSM is a free tool for creating versioned backups of game saves, sending them to cloud storage, sharing a backup library between Linux and Windows machines, and restoring saves when needed. It uses Ludusavi to detect supported game saves automatically and also allows manual backups for games it does not detect. Rclone handles cloud uploads, while SHA256 integrity files help check backup data. Retention can be configured separately for each game. Restore options include the newest backup, every backup, or the newest backup for a selected game. The project is designed for Linux and Windows systems to share a library without one side corrupting or deleting the other’s data. Linux users have a graphical interface, a text interface, and AppImage support; Windows users can choose a graphical build or a single-file EXE. GSM uses Rclone’s copy command for cloud operations. The repository is under the MIT License, and its releases page lists “GSM - Definitive edition.”
