What it is
FinitePath is a web platform that converts schedule files into working models for construction planning, cost mapping, delay analysis and reporting. It imports Primavera P6 XER or XML, Microsoft Project XML and Excel BOQs, carrying calendars, relationships, constraints and cost assignments, and exports XER, XML or JSON. Each save recalculates forward and backward passes and checks critical paths, float bands, dangling ends, loops and redundant links. Users can map BOQ lines to activities, compare what-if variants, review crew utilisation and overload alerts, and use auto-levelling within float with a project-manager override. Delay tools include calendar-accurate window analysis, baseline snapshots, delay quantification and claims packs. Reports cover schedule health, paths, float, earned-value measures when supported and recovery estimates; missing or implausible inputs may produce a diagnostic code. AI features provide source-cited schedule chat, risk patterns and executive summaries. A free, no-login PERT Builder is also offered.
For and against
For
- Imports major schedule and BOQ formats
- Critical-path and logic checks
- Cost-to-schedule mapping
- Delay analysis and claims packs
- Resource alerts and histograms
Against
- Reports omit unsupported metrics
- AI features may send data to Anthropic
- Free-trial duration is unspecified
- Web platform for professional use
The verdict
FinitePath brings schedule logic, costs, resources, delay analysis and reporting into one model. Its file support and diagnostics are useful for schedule teams, but report outputs depend on complete, plausible inputs.
Who it suits
It suits students, early-career schedulers, superintendents, engineers, planners and executives working with professional schedules. The service is intended for business and professional use.
