Apache Fineract
What it is
Apache Fineract is open-source financial services software for building a cloud-ready core banking system, including services for people who are unbanked or underbanked. It manages client data, loan and savings portfolios, real-time accounting, and reporting. Financial institutions can configure products, KYC documentation, business rules, workflows, repayment recognition, and portfolio tracking. Fineract 1.x is headless and provides open APIs for custom interfaces and extensions. The project lists cloud and on-premise deployment, and its design allows third-party mobile solutions. Multi-tenancy separates institution data by database or schema. Authentication can use HTTP Basic or OAuth, but not both simultaneously; optional two-factor authentication is also documented. Access features include fine-grained API permissions and maker-checker workflows for state-changing operations. It is free and available for Linux, web, API, and self-hosted environments. The project lists version 1.15.0 as its current stable release. Secure production hosting requires configuration and ongoing maintenance by the hosting organization.
