Amazon GameLift Servers
What it is
Amazon GameLift Servers deploys, operates, and scales dedicated cloud servers for session-based multiplayer games. AWS says it can host in 26 Regions and 9 Local Zones across five continents, with 99.99% availability. The service can launch thousands of servers and adjust capacity to demand, including reducing unused capacity. Hosting choices include managed EC2 fleets, managed container fleets, and Anywhere fleets using customer-managed resources. FlexMatch can place up to 200 players in one session using rules such as skill or latency. Enhanced DDoS Protection is enabled by default at no additional charge, while Player Gateway relays traffic and hides server IP addresses. AWS provides Unreal Engine and Unity plugins, SDKs for C++, C#, and Go, and lists O3DE support. Operations include dashboards, collected server logs, CloudWatch alarms, and telemetry integrations. Supported player platforms include PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, mobile, web, and AR/VR, with cross-play on shared servers. New AWS customers may use the Free Tier for up to 12 months, subject to limits.
