Yoink
What it is
Yoink is a free, open-source Windows screenshot tool for capturing, annotating, recording, and sharing with a hotkey. Capture modes include a selected region, full screen, active window, and scrolling content. Built-in annotations provide arrows, text, shapes, blur, and freehand drawing. Tesseract OCR extracts text from screen regions; translation can use offline Argos Translate or the Google Translate API, with language packs available for more than 100 OCR languages. Yoink records GIF, MP4, WebM, and MKV video with microphone and desktop audio. Local image history can be searched by filename, OCR text, or semantic similarity. Background removal can use remove.bg or Photoroom cloud services, or local U2Netp and BRIA RMBG models. Upload destinations include Imgur, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, Azure Blob, S3-compatible storage, GitHub, Immich, FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, and Custom HTTP. Uploads are explicit, and availability depends on credentials. The project uses GPL-3.0.
