WinGate · Auckland, New Zealand · founded 1995
What it is
WinGate is Windows software that combines proxy server, SOCKS server, email server, and internet gateway functions. It can intercept, cache, and scan web content; inspect HTTPS traffic; and restrict and log user web access. Application rules support inbound and outbound control, and central management is available. Kaspersky AV for WinGate scans WinGate traffic for malware and web browsing for exploits. The free version supports up to 10 users, and products can be tried free for 30 days during activation. Paid Standard plans start at $109.95 a month for six concurrent users. Licensing is based on users connected at the same time, and each installation requires a license. An unlimited license covers one installation. Free support is available with or without a purchased license.

The verdict
WinGate combines several Windows gateway and filtering roles with traffic scanning and centralized controls. Check concurrent-user licensing, installation scope, and the plan features required for your deployment.
Who it suits
WinGate suits Windows organizations that need gateway, proxy, traffic inspection, and access-control functions. It is relevant when licensing must be sized by concurrent users and installations.
