What it is
Warp 10 is an open-source platform for collecting, storing, and analyzing time series and Geo Time Series data, including sensor data. It offers Standalone, Standalone+, and Distributed deployments whose main distinction is storage-engine implementation. The download page lists more than 1,300 functions for managing and analyzing these data types. Organizations can install binaries on their own infrastructure or use a Docker image containing Warp 10, WarpStudio, and Sensision. Ingestion methods include HTTP POST, WebSocket, UDP, MQTT, and Kafka; HTTP updates require a valid WRITE token in the X-Warp10-Token header. Cryptographic READ and WRITE tokens control access. Integrations cover Jupyter, Zeppelin, Spark, Flink, MQTT, BACNet, NodeRed, NiFi, JDBC databases, Grafana, and PowerBI. Standalone is described for a few tens of millions of time series and a few hundreds of billions of datapoints, while larger needs point to Distributed. WarpScript is the query language.
For and against
For
- Open-source platform with free sandbox
- More than 1,300 time-series functions
- Supports multiple ingestion methods
- Offers Standalone and Distributed deployments
- Cryptographic READ and WRITE tokens
Against
- Windows production use is not supported by SenX
- Standalone has stated capacity guidance
- Datapoint encryption is off by default
The verdict
Warp 10 provides a broad time-series platform with several deployment models, ingestion paths, integrations, and access controls. Windows users need Docker, and larger installations may require the distributed version.
Who it suits
Warp 10 suits teams managing sensor or other time series data on their own infrastructure. It is relevant to users needing ingestion APIs, analytics functions, integrations, and scalable deployment choices.
